Director of Information Technology

The Director of Information Technology (IT) will assume leadership of the company's IT function, collaborating closely with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and our IT-managed service provider (MSP). This role is responsible for the development of IT strategy, enhancing the organization's information security framework, identifying technology investment needs, and managing IT operations. This position will lead the implementation of IT systems and policies to meet business and compliance needs and continuously improve Scanlans Information Security posture.
Position Responsibilities / Essential Functions:
40% - IT Security
- Ensure the security and integrity of the organizations data and information systems.
- Implement, maintain, and enforce the companys Information Security Policies to ensure compliance and safeguarding of our data.
- Manage standard security systems (anti-virus/malware, standard builds, and configurations) in conjunction with our MSP.
- Ensure continuous and reliable business continuity, disaster recovery, incident response planning, and regular auditing of IT security systems in conjunction with our MSP.
- Devise strategies and implement IT solutions to minimize the risk of cyber-attacks.
- Leverage IT strategic vision, technical expertise, and leadership to enhance operational efficiency, productivity, and innovation within the organization.
- Develop and execute strategic and tactical information system plans that support business growth and scalability, in alignment with corporate strategy.
- Manage information security testing (3rd party testing, network scanning).
- Stay current with industry trends and advancements in technology to drive innovation within the organization and ensure the ability to support appropriate new technologies.
- Analyze the business requirements of all departments to determine their technology needs.
- Manage the deployment and maintenance of all IT systems, including phones, servers, personal computers, operating systems, hardware, software, and security, in conjunction with our MSP.
- Identify, define, and implement relevant IT policies, procedures, and best practices, to optimize efficiency.
- Identify and manage patching and upgrades of systems with our MSP.
- Maintain the management information and network systems policies and controls to ensure data accuracy, integrity, availability, confidentiality, security, and legal and regulatory compliance.
- Manage relationships with software and hardware vendors to create cost-efficient contracts.
- Inspect the use of technological equipment and software to ensure functionality and efficiency. Ensure end users receive appropriate support and training.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
- BS/BA in Computer Science, MIS, or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in IT management, with 5+ years of information/cyber-security experience.
- Proven experience successfully leading IT security, IT infrastructure, or business application projects.
- Expertise in information security policies, procedures, and processes.
- Proven experience partnering and managing relationships with third-party suppliers, including MSPs.
- Information Technology Management certification desired (CompTIA A+, MCSE, ITIL).
- Information Security certification desired (CISSP, CISM, GIAC)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to lead and teach others.
- Ability to explain highly technical concepts in simple terms.
- Good research and analysis skills.
