**Title:** Senior Planner Buyer

**Reports to:** Director of Supply Chain

**Position Objective:** Establishes planning parameters and production schedules of significant and vital products to ensure parts availability to meet demand. Places and manages purchase orders to ensure on-time delivery and minimize inventory. Develops and shares Best Practices to manage the production plan and inventory to ensure optimal use of resources and capacity. Ensures continuity of build plan and adherence to SIOP to meet Operations goals.

* Create and maintain a planning schedule for assigned key

product lines in response to changes in demand, capacity, and inventory, as determined by SIOP agreements and NPD timelines. Review production orders for missing parts and release to support production schedule.

* Place purchase orders and manage vendors to meet committed delivery dates. Provide vendor performance feedback to help suppliers improve their performance.

* Actively monitor exception reports and work with urgency to resolve any issues. Reschedule work orders to reflect variance in daily Plan vs Actual to achieve schedule adherence. Proved details to OTD in efforts to improve

* Develop and share best practices to improve parts availability and minimize on hand inventory. Review and disposition excess & obsolete inventory.

* Develop and share best practices to improve SAP master data, plus all relevant SAP planning & purchasing parameters to ensure most efficient and economical planning strategy for production and purchasing.

* Provide input into the SIOP process. Interface with management and all key stakeholder departments regarding reschedules, labor & material shortages, capacity, backlog, & other issues impacting the plan.

* Implement actions required by NPD, ECNs, DMRs, and ADRs/

* Develop & maintain management reports that analyze production plans, capacity, and obstacles for department. Recommend appropriate course of action to resolve issues

* Serve as representative and point of contact for Supply Chain and assume accountabilities as apparent or as delegated when necessary.

**Relationship to Others:** Establish effective working relationships with other departments in the organization to ensure the smooth transition of information. Provide training and knowledge sharing to team members..

No direct supervision responsibility but may provide direction to others regarding the production schedule

**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:**

***Education**

* Requires broad training in fields such as business administration, accounting, sales, marketing, computer sciences, communication or similar vocations obtained through a four year bachelors degree. B.S. or B.A degree is preferred; Supply Management, Business or Supply Chain is preferred.

* APICS or other industry certification a plus.

***Experience**

* Seven plus years of experience in a manufacturing environment in procurement, production planning, or material control.

* Knowledge of Bills of Material, ECOs, production control, capacity planning, and inventory control.

***Skills**

* SAP knowledge strongly preferred.

* Strong ERP/MRP skills

* Demonstrated knowledge of planning strategies

* Ability to determine important/critical issues and act on them (sense of urgency)

* Accuracy and an aptitude for numbers

* Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing

* Intermediate level skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) for production of reports, spreadsheets, and documentation.

* Analytical ability

* Uses logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems (critical thinking).

* Attention to detail

* Ability to document and implement process improvements
