Manufacturing

Systems and Software Senior Engineer who will be responsible for the design, implementation, integration, and support of the digital manufacturing systems at Nikola. Systems and software design and development for the manufacturing execution system, integration with business systems, integration with plant-floor automation systems, software design and development for a wide variety of manufacturing support systems, all implementing the state-of-the-art Industry 4.0 principles and concepts. Responsibilities

Develop software and scripting solutions using a wide variety of technologies, including Java backend development, web full-stack, systems and application integration solutions, web-based front-end, REST APIs and microservices, database and data architecture.In particular, you will need strong ignition software development skills. Develop and support software and integration with business systems or manufacturing systems (ERP, PLM, WMS, Quality, Throughput, Business Intelligence, Databases, etc.)You should be a self-starter who can independently analyze problems and develop solutions, while also being a strong communicator who proactively keeps me informed of your progress. Design, develop, implement, and support software solutions supporting Nikola's Manufacturing Execution System (MES). Design, develop and implement a wide variety of systems and software, based on the evolving business needs, all supporting new or existing production processes (welding, body-shop, paint, AGV, maintenance, production control, preventive/predictive systems, etc.). Perform MES system administration, reflecting changes or additions on the production-floor equipment and processes. Integrate manufacturing systems and applications with automation and controls equipment (PLCs, robotics, welding, AGVs, fastening, controllers), communicating on various networks, industrial buses, and protocols. Analyze requirements, identify manufacturing and production related challenges, and bring innovative solutions for solving them. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering or equivalent (and proven) work experience in a software-related field. A minimum of 6 years of solid software engineering or software development experience with strong Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles. At least 4 years of experience with Java software engineering and development. A minimum of 4 years of full-stack development experience with Java, JavaScript, CSS, HTML, servlets, Tomcat, and front-end frameworks.Experience with cloud-based deployments is a plus. Experience with REST API web services and microservices using Spring Boot and Spring Cloud. Highly experienced data architecture, database design, and advanced stored procedures for MS SQL Server or equivalent. A meticulous and detail-oriented approach to data management is crucial. Strong systems engineering and system design principles and methodologies, application design and integration. Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Git, Maven) and general DevOps processes. Preferable (nice to have): Manufacturing or Automotive industry experience. Exposure to automation and control systems, PLCs, and systems integration with manufacturing equipment. Exposure to Manufacturing Execution Systems, Plant Monitoring and Control, SCADA, or other equivalent manufacturing control, monitoring and reporting systems. Experience with cloud computing and Service Oriented Architecture (SOA). Candidates must have current U.S. work authorization or be TN eligible from Mexico or Canada.
