TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANT

Traffic/Information Controller Position The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a traffic/information controller, ensuring coordination and documentation requirements are met to ensure timely completion of all cargo and passenger loading/offloading, and ground servicing activities. Responsibilities include: Working on a shift in the 24-hour/7-days-a-week operation of the Air Terminal Operations Center's (ATOC) information control function. Planning and coordinating activities involving the processing of cargo and passenger records originating and transiting through the Aerial Port. Coordinating with officials in Aircraft Services, Passenger Services, and the Air Terminal Operations Center on matters pertaining to cargo, passenger, and aircraft data necessary for the accomplishment of section mission. Performing ramp coordinator duties and closely monitoring SOEs and all aerial port ground handling operations, maintaining constant communication with the ATOC. Preparing and submitting Monthly Station Traffic Handling Report (RCS): AMC/DOZM (M&Q) 7107 report. Performing duties as a file/records technician and maintaining local databases, spreadsheets, and word processing files used for vital data collection. Requirements include: Must be able to meet and pass established hearing standards and discern colors, contrast, and depth. Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance. This is a Mission Essential (ME) position performing a Mission Critical Function (MCF) which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions. This position is designated as a key position IAW AFI 36-507. Duties of this position are essential to the accomplishment of wartime/contingency operations. Incumbents of key positions must be removed from their military recall status if alternative for filling of the position during an emergency are not available. Subject to pre-employment physical. To qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule, Administrative and Management Positions, Transportation Clerk and Assistant Series 2102. Specialized experience includes knowledge and ability to apply an extensive body of transportation regulations, methods, and practices to perform a wide variety of interrelated or nonstandard transportation support assignments and resolve a wide range of problems. Knowledge of transportation regulations that relate to the movement of a wide range of specialized shipments. Knowledge of transportation regulations governing entitlements and documentation requirements for domestic or foreign relocation travel to advise on travel procedures, restrictions, and allowances, and to resolve conflicts or issues related to the travel. Knowledge of a variety of transportation functional areas and their relationship to other functions to investigate complaints or errors that require, for example, reconstructing and reconciling incomplete information, conducting extensive and exhaustive searches for required information, or performing actions of similar complexity. Knowledge of automated transportation systems to reconcile errors that require an understanding of nonstandard transportation procedures, or to provide subject-matter assistance in the development of automated transportation procedures for clerical operations. Knowledge of extensive and diverse regulations governing a wide variety of types of passenger travel to make arrangements, provide advice, or perform other work that requires authoritative procedural knowledge of various different travel policies or laws. Knowledge of the requirements of various transportation regulations or operations to monitor and report on carrier compliance with contract terms, safety provisions, or other transportation programs. Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-06 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level.
