The truck drivers for JL Logistics are a pillar of our business. They take Dutchboy Farms’ products to market in excellent condition, and on the return trip may pick up feed and other supplies for the farm. Our drivers are responsible for the safe and timely deliveries of product, communicating schedules and arrival times with the customers, scheduling preventative maintenance, performing small repairs and arranging for repairs as needed.

Truck Driver Job Responsibilities:

• Driving truck

• All legally required inspections, record keeping, and compliance

• Monitor condition of all tools and equipment and arrange for maintenance and repair

• Assist with loading and unloading

• Some mechanical abilities to perform minor repairs (lights, mudflats, etc).

• Complete and verify paperwork for accuracy • Monitor company calendar for changes in delivery schedules • Work with the production crews to continuously improve product quality

• Communicate delivery and pickup times with the farm crews and the customers Route and schedule description. Because of the nature of the cargo (live fish), deliveries are time sensitive, and schedules are rigorous.

This is a DEMANDING driving job. Drivers should expect to average 600 plus miles a day, four days a week. Drivers are expected to use chains and drive when legal and where conditions allow. A typical week includes a pickup from Grace, ID and deliveries to the Seattle and Portland areas. The return trip often includes a pickup of fish feed in Buhl, ID for our farms in Grace or Challis, ID. The driver can expect to be home more than 200 nights per year, and almost every Sunday. Drivers never reset on the road.

Compensation. Drivers are compensated $0.65-.75 cpm. The average driver pay was $1,680 per week in 2023. Drivers are eligible for employee medical insurance, paid vacation and company sponsored retirement.

Required minimum qualifications: • CDL-A with tanker endorsement. No automatic restriction, or must re-test to remove restriction • Able to move full pallets on trailer with a pallet jack • Verifiable recent tractor-trailer experience • Minimum two years commercial driving experience
