Medical Assistant - Neurosurgery The anticipated duration of this assignment is approximately 6 months. Under the supervision of clinic leadership and in accordance with Ambulatory Services policies and procedures, the Medical Assistant III assists in the delivery of patient care within the San Jose Neurosurgery Clinic. The incumbent supports physicians, APPs, nurses, and patients during exams and procedures, ensures smooth patient flow, coordinates care for complex cases, and performs clinical and administrative functions to promote high-quality care and operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities: Assist in the delivery of patient care in the San Jose Neurosurgery clinic. Perform clinical procedures and support specialty care services. Act as a primary conduit between patients and providers, coordinating services for complex or chronic cases. Participate in multidisciplinary quality improvement initiatives to improve patient health outcomes. Schedule patient appointments, surgeries, and tests; manage authorizations and check-ins. Provide advocacy, information, and referral services to patients and families. Maintain adherence to UCSF's Living PRIDE standards, including professionalism, respect, integrity, diversity, and excellence. Ensure compliance with privacy, confidentiality, and infection control policies. Support administrative duties and provide coverage for other clinics as needed. Required Qualifications: Minimum of one year of experience as a Medical Assistant or Hospital Assistant in a medical practice. Medical Assistant Certification. Current American Heart Association CPR Certification. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, with the ability to learn new programs as required. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with diverse populations. Willingness to travel and work between UCSF campuses and satellite locations. Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with Epic/Apex electronic medical records. Fluency in Spanish or Chinese (speaking, reading, and writing). Experience in internal medicine, geriatrics, or family medicine. Proven experience in data collection, entry, and analysis. Prior experience working in a medical, hospital, or clinic environment.
