The School District of Beloit is seeking a school secretary for Merrill Elementary School. This is a full time/permanent position based on a 212 day calendar. Benefits are provided with this position. Minority and bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply. Rate of pay is $18.10/hour .

I. QUALIFICATIONS

A. Required Qualifications
1. High school diploma or GED certificate.
2. Excellent clerical and math skills, including computer and typing 50 WPM.
3. Excellent human relations and telephone skills.
4. Communicate effectively, firmly and honestly in speech and writing.
5. Excellent ability to organize and manage office affairs.
5. Require a minimum of supervision in the performance of duties.
7. Present proof of physical fitness to assume all the duties of the job.

B. Desirable Qualifications
1. Two (2) years clerical experience.
2. Data processing training or one (1) year experience.

II. RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Examples of duties but not limited to the following:
1. Answer telephone and follow up with necessary action. Route messages to the staff, students and principal.
2. Distribute incoming mail (US and District).
3. Process warehouse requests and purchase orders on computer system.
4. Type letters, notices and annual budget.
5. Update student records - gains, losses, health records, and test data.
6. Complete logs - monthly long distance phone call report, sub teacher and personnel absences, student medication and transfer list for bussing.
7. File forms.
8. Keep student database up to date on computer
9. Reports - monthly attendance, state, ethnic and staff absences.
10. Treat injured or ill students (fill our accident reports when necessary/medicate students for those who have proper forms on file).
11. Set up kindergarten screening (spring).
12. Register new students - type forms and make out cumulative file for new students.
13. Send folders and information on students to new schools when students move.
14. Assume other duties as assigned by the Building Principal or designee.

III. DISTRICT SUPPORT
A. Demonstrate accuracy thoroughness, and promptness in submitting reports, inventories, evaluations, and other information requested.
B. Observe, support and enforce the regulations, policies, philosophy, and programs of the District and all applicable laws and regulations.

IV. RELATIONS TO THE SUPERVISOR
A. Keep the supervisor informed on operations, needs and problems in the department.
B. Accept responsibility for the position and duties. Maintain the strictest confidence concerning personnel and operational concerns of the District.
