Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrates competency in routine noninvasive and/or invasive cardiology ultrasound diagnostics, and equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Requires in-depth conceptual and practical knowledge in own job discipline and basic knowledge of related job disciplines.
  • Solves complex problems.
  • Exercise judgement based on the analysis of multiple sources of information.
  • Recognizes normal and abnormal anatomy and physiology in conjunction with obtaining and documenting pertinent clinical and diagnostic information.
  • Works closely with the cardiologist to perform noninvasive and/or invasive cardiology diagnostic sonographic exams, and functions independently in the absence of the supervisor and/or manager.
  • Exercises professional judgment in performance of services and maintains a demeanor complimentary to quality care.
  • Delivers appropriate care while recognizing patient conditions and ensuring successful completion of procedures.
  • Complies with all state and federal regulations applicable to each modality.
  • Adheres to Orlando Health mission statements and commitment to excellence standards.
  • Assesses the patients physical condition and age specific needs.
  • Provides instructions that achieve patient cooperation and desired results.
  • Performs proper patient identification, acquires patients clinical history, and assures that the information is accurately documented.
  • Position patient, equipment, associated devices and manipulates technical factors to achieve high quality images for interpretation.
Qualifications:

Education/Training
Graduate of an accredited school of sonography. Depending on assigned department, meets education/training as required under established current American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) and/or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) guidelines.

Licensure/Certification

  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS)
  • Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) or Advanced Cardiac Sonographer (ACS) through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)
  • Maintains current BLS/HealthCare Provider certification.

Experience
A minimum of one year of experience.

Able to perform routine echocardiology exams including, but not limited to, 2-D and M-Mode Echocardiography and/or vascular sonography exams including, but not limited to, 2-D and M-Mode Imaging, Color Flow and Spectral Doppler. Knowledge of equipment operation and maintenance.

Must demonstrate competency in performing at least FIVE of the following ECHO examinations: 3-D, Strain, Exercise Stress Echocardiography, Dobutamine Stress Echocardiography, TAVR, Mitral Clip, Complex Valve, Watchman, Post Processing, Contrast

Studies, Agitated Saline Studies, Transesophageal (TEE), or Surgical TEE.
