Job Title: Anesthesia Technologist (Night Shift) Job Specialty: Anesthesia Technology Job Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 5x8.0, 9:30 PM - 6:00 AM EST, with some late nights, weekends, holidays, on-call, and call back as needed Guaranteed Hours: [Not specified] Experience: Two years of experience as an Anesthesia Technologist highly desired License: [Not specified] Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) preferred (American Heart Association ONLY) Must-Have: Certification by a recognized professional certifying body is preferred Job Description: - Assist in the care of patients undergoing anesthesia, including: - Prepare anesthesia equipment prior to the patient's arrival - Place anesthesia monitors - Ensure cleanliness and availability of specialized anesthesia equipment and supplies - Set up medications and supplies where applicable- Communicate continuously with anesthesiologists, residents, CRNAs, and anesthesia technologists to ensure their needs are met throughout the day- Assist clinicians with difficult intubations and the placement of central line catheters- Operate cell-saver machines, keep track of lab reports, and participate in advanced surgical cases such as cardiac, liver transplant, vascular, thoracic, and trauma- Provide on-call coverage as needed- Ensure anesthesia equipment is in good working order and preventive maintenance is completed- Set up and operate sophisticated equipment and perform advanced troubleshooting- Serve as the key resource person for using and maintaining specialized equipment- Assist in the development and implementation of in-service training programs- Assist in training staff in the roles and responsibilities of an anesthesia technologist- Perform anesthesia equipment set-up and troubleshooting, including testing infusion pumps, nerve stimulators, defibrillators, and transport monitors- Calibrate anesthesia machines and attach fiberoptic bronchoscopes to the video monitor- Set up rooms between cases, carts throughout the day, and provide full-service setup at the end of the day- Work with other hospital units to ensure the availability of specialized anesthesia equipment- Perform setup and support for ectopic procedures, ensuring proper equipment is in place for out-of-operating-room procedures- Provide backup to the shift supervisor in their absence- Perform other duties as assigned by the Shift Supervisor, Chief Anesthesia Technologist, or Operations Manager
