Work Arrangement: Hybrid you will report to Metro?Detroit three times per week, or as required by the business. The Chassis and Body Controls SW DRE (Software Design Release Engineer) will be responsible for sourcing, validating, and releasing various Chassis and Body controllers for production. You will steward the part as it impacts the customer and serve as the single point of contact between GM and the supplier. Your responsibilities include managing software?related PRTS issues, ensuring solutions are implemented, and leading product plans to on?time delivery for vehicle builds and production. What Youll Do (Responsibilities) Address all controller and system safety concerns promptly. Lead and support product issue investigations (PRTS), continuous process improvements, standard methodologies, lessons learned, and quality improvement initiatives. Facilitate requirements and design reviews with suppliers, algorithm, and software groups. Organize and lead key Controller Product Development Team (PDT) meetings. Support investigations on software related issues. Own and release the software for development and production. Manage part number proliferation for the embedded controller (end model part number, software, and calibration parts). Create and manage controller validation plans Worst Case Analysis, Bench (Design Demo), Design and Process Validation. Coordinate activities and manage a full test plan, including supplier testing and other required testing (regulatory testing, subsystem integration testing, system safety testing, cybersecurity, etc.). Keep supplier(s) on track to meet key milestones (design freeze, gate reviews for prototype levels, validation start and complete dates). Conduct supplier and vehicle assembly plant visits as required. Monitor warranty and work with suppliers as needed. Required Qualifications Currently pursuing a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field. Expected graduation between December?2025 and June?2026. Able to work full time, 40 hours per week. Preferred Qualifications Experience with automotive clubs or related activities (Formula SAE, Baja, Auto Drive, FIRST, VEX Robotics). Experience in the GM product release and specification process. High?level knowledge of software verification/validation processes. Understanding of engineering theory and principles of mechanical/electrical mechanisms. Legally operating a motor vehicle. Experience with customer interface technologies. Basic knowledge of vehicle serial data communications. Basic knowledge of vehicle dynamics and electronic chassis and body control systems. Basic knowledge of diagnostics and functional safety. Basic knowledge of SAFe Agile Release process. Compensation The base salary will be based on factors relevant to the position and geographic location.
