The Respiratory Care Lead provides managerial and clinical leadership to the staff of the Respiratory Therapy Department within designated specialty area while performing the duties of a Registered Respiratory Therapist. Your duties will include but are not limited to: Monitoring daily operations of assigned areas and acts as a resource person for staff. Assigning therapist workload and adjusting staffing based on patient volume. Participating in continuous quality improvement, projects and in-services. Providing feedback on staff performance. Assisting with development and implementation of Respiratory Therapy Policy/Procedures/Protocols.The Future Caregiver is someone who: Can schedule and manage tasks effectively. When you join Cleveland Clinic, you'll be part of a supportive caregiver family that will be united in shared values and purpose to fulfill our promise of being the best place to receive care and the best place to work in healthcare.Responsibilities:Provides clinical and managerial leadership to the respiratory staff as designated by departmental managementActs as a Respiratory Care liaison by developing/maintaining communication with the multidisciplinary care team.Assists with developing and providing ongoing orientation/training for newly hired therapists, existing staff, nursing and LIPs.At sites where applicable, the employee will perform blood gas puncture and analysis.If the employee is designated as a Technical Consultant by the blood gas Laboratory Director, the employee must meet minimum qualifications as specified by the CLIA code of federal regulations.Performs duties outlined in the Respiratory Therapist job descriptions and participates as part of the assigned therapist workload and all duties as appropriateOther duties as assignedEducation:Associate's Degree required, Bachelor's degree preferredGraduate of an accredited program in Respiratory TherapyAssociate's Degree requiredDiploma and/or transcripts must be provided for validationLanguages:Certifications:Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the NBRC.State of Florida Department of Health License Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA)Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) through American Heart Association (AHA), and/or certified as a Neonatal Pediatric Specialist (NPS) (as appropriate to site).Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) within six months of hire through American Heart Association (AHA) (inpatient only as appropriate to site)Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) (inpatient only as appropriate to site)Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) through American Heart Association (AHA). (inpatient only as appropriate to site)Complexity of Work:Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.Work Experience:Minimum of 3 years of experience in Respiratory Therapy including critical care or a specialty environment is required or must possess a Bachelor's degree and 2 years of experience in Respiratory Therapy including critical care or a specialty environment.Physical Requirements:Requires good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.Requires normal hearing and vision or corrected to normal range.May require sitting, standing and walking for extensive periods of time.This position requires proficiency in treatment of respiratory disorders for inpatient and outpatients with various media, i.e. oxygen, therapeutic gases, inhaled medications and positive pressure terpretive skills frequent interactive and consultative associations are inherent in this position.The ability to retrieve, communicate or otherwise present information in a written, auditory or visual fashion is essential.Physical Duties: Moderate to heavy lifting and positioning of patients.Moderate pushing and pulling of equipment.Working Conditions: 100% air-conditioned.Moderate risk of exposure to blood or air-borne pathogens.Personal Protective Equipment:Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.Salaries [which may be] shown on independent job search websites reflect various market averages and do not represent information obtained directly from The Cleveland Clinic.
