Job Description

The Hardware in the Loop (HiL) Software Validation Engineer supports the software product development and system integration processes by developing test procedures for automated execution, implementing tests using HiL equipment, documenting and reviewing execution reports, reporting incidents, and tracking software updates to fix issues. This role requires close collaboration with feature owners, engineering, and suppliers to develop a strong understanding of vehicle functions and implement appropriate test design strategies for early identification of software defects and to provide evidence of defect elimination. The HiL Engineer serves as the single point of contact for the test organization and the feature owner, engineering team, and supplier. Responsibilities include managing the test project for assigned features, supporting tradeoff analysis of test requirements vs. test environment capabilities, analyzing requirements and vehicle components electrical schematics, designing and executing test procedures, documenting test environment requirements, validating test environment solutions, developing test procedures for intake tests, analyzing test execution results, troubleshooting vehicle systems, and implementing continuous improvement strategies.

Hard Skills

+ 2+ years experience with development and verification of embedded software for full vehicle systems using hardware in the loop equipment and software (e.g., dSpace, National Instruments)

+ 2+ Years of experience in dSPACE control and automation desk software

+ Significant experience with dSPACE tool chain

+ Systems level experience

Soft Skills

+ Collaboration with feature owners, engineering, and suppliers

+ Strong understanding of vehicle functions

+ Test design strategies

+ Troubleshooting vehicle systems

+ Continuous improvement strategies
