SUMMARY

Tax Specialist is responsible for all sales and use tax for a multiple jurisdiction manufacturer.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • File sales and use tax returns in multiple jurisdictions
  • Update general ledger system for sales tax rate changes
  • Work with the accounts receivable department to correct sales tax issue
  • Determine taxable and nontaxable items for use tax purposes
  • Research sales tax issues as necessary
  • Issue and request exemption certificates
  • Responsible for all annual filings with Secretary of State offices
  • Responsible for all state and local business licenses
  • Miscellaneous other items to support the tax function

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have prior sales and use tax experience in manufacturing
  • Strong analytical ability and communication skills
  • Must be proficient at Excel
  • Must be detail oriented
  • Must be able to multi-task and meet numerous deadlines

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma and/or 2 years of experience
  • The military equivalent will be recognized in lieu of education and/or experience.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Basic math skills

REASONING ABILITY

  • Ability to analyze complex data
