Job Description:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Steel Estimator to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for steel fabrication and erection projects. This role requires a thorough understanding of the construction industry, particularly in steelworks, along with strong analytical and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review project plans, specifications, and related documents to understand the scope of work and project requirements.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for steel projects, including material, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
  • Analyze blueprints, drawings, and specifications to identify project requirements and potential cost-saving opportunities.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and architects to develop accurate and comprehensive estimates.
  • Conduct site visits to assess project conditions and gather necessary information for accurate estimating.
  • Solicit and evaluate quotes from suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing.
  • Prepare and present bid proposals to clients and participate in bid review meetings.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market trends, material costs, and industry standards.
  • Track and analyze historical data to improve estimating accuracy and efficiency.
  • Assist in value engineering efforts to optimize project costs without compromising quality.
  • Maintain detailed records of estimates, proposals, and other relevant documents.
  • Participate in post-bid and pre-construction meetings to provide clarification on estimates and ensure smooth project transition.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in construction estimating, with a focus on steel projects.
  • Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, ProEst, or similar tools).
  • Strong understanding of steel fabrication and erection processes, materials, and industry standards.
  • Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and clients.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy and quality.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of relevant building codes, regulations, and safety standards.
