Job Type Full-timeDescriptionJOB SUMMARY:It is the responsibility of this position to perform all welding tasks necessary to thermally join a pressure containing pipe or structural weldment during assembly. The purpose of the position is to translate the engineering documentation into welded assemblies, using the welding consumables provided, according to the qualified weld procedures, within the time allocated in the production schedule, and according to GasTech Quality Requirements. It is the goal of the position to help establish the GasTech Manufacturing Department as the most highly respected process equipment group in the industries, and for the clients, we serve.PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:This position includes three distinct Grade Levels. The responsibilities of each grade include, but are not limited to, the following:Set-up/run RT & UT Quality Pipe WeldsSet-up/run UT Quality Branch WeldsAble to make any UT or RT Weld RepairClean and stamp all weldsSet-up/run all structural and non-code weldsSet-up and run all oxy-fuel cutting/burningAbility to perform hydro testingPosition, fit and assemble vessel/skid pipingAbility to read drawings, WPS's/ PQR'sKnowledgeable of valves, instruments, fittingsAbility to lead others and plan aheadKnowledgeable of PT, MT, UT, RT methodsAbility to make correct decisionsSpeed of accomplishing tasksProper, professional housecleaningAbility to work safelyAverage Percent of weld repairsReliable and Punctual AttendancePositive and Cooperative AttitudeWORKING ENVIRONMENT:Heavy construction and fabrication environment: constantly. Office environment: rarely.RequirementsKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:This position demands excellent fitting, welding and assembly proficiency in pressure piping and structural steel manufacturing. The position requires passing a qualified Welding Test and class-appropriate level of experience. A high school or vocational school diploma or equivalent is necessary. Higher vocational welding background is preferable. Experience with ASME/ANSI Piping Codes is helpful. Experience in an ISO 9000 environment is suggested. A working knowledge of shop scheduling, material provisions, shop layout and process throughput is highly encouraged.
