POSITION PURPOSE: Rated the number 1 orthopedic surgical hospital in the nation, the Black Hill Orthopedic and Spine Center operates through a contract with the Black Hills Surgical Hospital and has an opening for a full time working PT manager. Essential functions: Supervise professional staff in the Physical Therapy department. Supervise support staff in the Physical Therapy department. Participate in the hiring, firing and performance appraisals of Physical Therapy department staff. Initiate and coordinate program development. Responsible for quality control of patient care. Facilitate communication between the Physical Therapy department and the physicians. Act as a link between the CEO, Human Resource department and the Physical Therapy department. Budget the components of the Physical Therapy department. Available to answer questions and help problem solve in all areas of the department. Directly participate in patient care responsibilities. Associated Responsibilities: Oversees staff allocation to the department and Black Hills Surgery Center coverage. Approve equipment purchases. Oversee the authorization of time sheets for team members. Track use of personal and vacation time (PTO/DTO) and staff clinics sufficiently to maintain patient care. Partner with other team leaders and Human Resources to develop and implement policies that are synonymous with clinic objectives. Interact with other departments in a manner that enhances the operations of BHOSC. Travel required: Travel required up to 40%. Required education and experience: State of South Dakota Physical Therapy/Occupational Therapy License. Successful completion of National Board exam. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited Physical Therapist school. Clinical rotations/education in specific clinical specialty settings. Additional eligibility requirements: Excellent communication skills, engaging with an honest, direct and respectful approach. Excellent problem solving skills, involving team members in the process. Apply fair treatment to personnel issues, with sound and reasoned judgement. Model professionalism with patient care and employee interaction. Consider all sides of an issue, with open dialogue while holding up the policies and procedures of the organization. Other duties: Other duties as assigned. Physical demands & Work environment: Able to be on your feet for extended periods of time. Able to perform bending and lifting to move patients and machines. Highly motivated and able to work well in stressful situations. Punctual and flexible with schedule and duties as needs arise. Strong ability to lead and work as part of a cohesive team. Committed to clinic policies and able to carry them out in the work environment. Available to team members to resolve conflict in the work environment or to discuss personal problems. Ability to perform duties in highly interruptive conditions. Ability to perform assigned job under constant time pressures. Able to work quickly and thoroughly.
