Summary
Leads and manages capital-intensive engineering projects within plastic compounding businesses. Oversees the design, development, and implementation of manufacturing process equipment to achieve manufacturing capacity objectives, safety standards, quality standards, and cost competitiveness. Works closely with cross-functional teams including production, quality, maintenance, and suppliers to ensure successful project execution.
Responsibilities include:
Lead and manage capital engineering projects from conception to completion, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery in compliance with Audia safety and quality standards
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and analyze requirements, develop solutions, and implement process optimizations as appropriate in the next generation of equipment
Develop and execute project plans, timelines, and budgets; regularly report progress to stakeholders
Coordinate and oversee the installation, commissioning, and validation of manufacturing equipment, including documentation and training of operations and maintenance personnel
Develop and maintain project documentation and punch lists
Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to select and qualify equipment and manage procurement activities
Create layouts and floor plans in AutoCAD
Review processes and workflow
Develop quotation and specifications documents
Control expenditures within the limitations of the project budget
Assign and oversee project team members to specific phases or aspects of the project such as technical studies, product design, preparation of specifications and technical plans and product testing
Review product design for compliance with engineering principles, safety standards, customer requirements, and related specifications
Evaluate and approve design changes, specifications and drawing releases
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial) or related field
At least 5 years of experience in technical operations or management, preferably in a manufacturing environment
Strong technical knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, and systems
Proven track record of successfully leading and managing engineering projects, including project planning, budgeting, execution, and reporting
Solid understanding of lean manufacturing principles, process optimization, safety, and quality management systems
Proficient in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and project management tools (MS Project)
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to analyze data, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and customers
Ability to learn and work within relevant quality and environmental frameworks
Ability to travel at least 25%, which could increase depending on projects; this includes international travel
