The ideal candidate will have a strong artistic sense and extensive knowledge of Adobe tools such as Photoshop and Illustrator.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate to design and produce game UI that both adheres to and pushes the boundaries of the style guide. Expected deliverables include:
- Art-skinned screen mockups from UX wireframes
- Modular, reusable, and scalable UI components
- Icons in various sizes and styles
- Component sheets facilitating UI implementation and hookups
- Animation guides for UI motion
- Assist in exploring and defining a game's UI style guide.
- Organize and streamline workflows within the UI team.
- Mentor and develop the skills of Junior and Middle UI Artists.
- Collaborate with UX Designers and Game Designers to realize design intent.
- Collaborate with UI Coders, Game Programmers, and Engineers to implement UI closely aligned with art mockups, ensuring performance and texture optimization.
- Minimum 3- 5 years of professional experience as a UI Artist or Designer across any platform.
- Experience working on at least 3 AA or AAA titles.
- Some experience with in-engine implementation, especially UMG.
- Proficiency with Adobe tools such as Photoshop and Illustrator.
- Strong visual artistic sense across diverse styles.
- Passionate about art and visual design.
- Team player capable of interfacing with various departments at Gearbox.
- Solid grasp of UI/UX conventions in games, websites, and apps, including navigation, UX-enhancing animations, and general game terminology.
- A deep love for gaming
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new techniques and technologies.
- Strong motion and animation skills.
- Strong hand drawing and painting skills.
- Ability to create animation graphics using tools like Adobe After Effects.
- Passion for UX and Accessibility principles.
- Familiarity with Unreal Engine technologies like materials and blueprints.
- Familiarity with Figma tools.
