Job Title: Pharmacy Contract Analyst

Position description:

The primary responsibility of the contract analyst is to ensure the contracting process produces a final document that meets the needs of the organization and accurately reflects the intent of contract negotiations. The contract analyst will work primarily with payer and pharmaceutical manufacturers to negotiate contracts, including but not limited to confidentiality agreements, master service agreements, statements of work, purchasing, and provider or network enrollment.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Review and manage Pharmaceutical, Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM), Commercial Health Plan, and Managed Care contracts; including drafting, evaluation, negotiation and execution. Identify areas of possible risk and opportunity related to the application of contract clauses.
  • Manage the contract workflow to ensure updates and maintenance of contracts for accuracy and representation of the payer's expectations.
  • Develop and maintain appropriate contract schedules, files, documentation and tracking mechanisms and provide periodic reports to management and affected department on the current status of contracts under review.
  • Manage contracts and amendments in a manner that meets or exceeds company standards.
  • Oversee processing and review of newly assigned contracts.
  • Obtain, maintain and update payer portals (including government and private) in realtime for credentialing and accreditation requirement purposes (PBMs and Medicaid).
  • Prepare a summary of the financial and operational impact of procedural changes proposed by payers to appropriate internal teams.
  • Assists in developing contract templates or contract language to propose contracts or amendments to payers. Work with redlines and ensure version control of assigned agreements.
  • Serve as point of contact for customers on contractual matters and as a liaison between customer and internal business units and cross-functional teams.
  • Customize and modify existing contract language.
  • Track and maintain all stages of the agreement document process.
  • Ensure timely contract completion and execution.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders during specialty contract negotiations and with all applicable partners
  • Work with team to ensure applications and periodic reports going to payers are reviewed for quality and accuracy.
  • Independently manage numerous workstreams related to contracting and payer access.
  • Provide exceptional and timely customer service to our partners on all contracting and payer access matters.
  • Identify solutions to non-standard requests and problems.
  • Participate in the preparation and submission of applications.

Required qualifications:
  • 2 to 3 years of experience with contracts, insurance, or health care
  • Working knowledge of the healthcare industry, pharmacy and PBM business environment.
  • HIPAA trained and /or the ability to work with and protect extremely confidential patient and employee information
  • Intermediate level with Microsoft Office and Excel
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Para-legal experience
  • Health care contracting experience
  • Previous or current Pharmacy Technician experience is desired but not required
Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience
  • Para-legal experience
