Founded in 1998 in San Francisco, CA, DanceSafe emerged from a recognized need within the

rave community for better access to drug checking and drug education. Since its inception, DanceSafe has been at the forefront of harm reduction efforts within the electronic music and nightlife communities. Today, our mission has expanded to promote health, safety, and fulfilling experiences for people who use drugs and their communities. We believe in harm reduction as a pragmatic approach to reducing the risks and enhancing the benefits associated with drug use and other health behaviors, empowering individuals to make informed decisions about their health and well-being. While DanceSafe has existed for 26+ years, we are very much a developing organization. In recent years, DanceSafe has been undergoing deep and transformative growth focused on establishing critical administrative infrastructure (e.g. budget and financial systems, human resources, technology, etc.), revamping our outreach systems and processes, creating sustainable and scalable harm reduction distribution practices, implementing a brand refresh, and navigating the ever growing demand for our services. Position Summary The Digital Media Director is part of the leadership team that oversees DanceSafe’s digital media efforts (both organic and paid) whose talents lie at the intersection of creativity, strategy, and innovation. The Digital Media director will lead DanceSafe’s digital media team to drive the creation, implementation, and analysis of all our digital media strategies. Primary duties involve developing multi-platform media strategy, overseeing digital marketing efforts, and supporting content creation & production. Responsibilities will also include overseeing experimenting, analyzing, learning, optimizing, and scaling digital media strategies to build relationships and achieve business objectives. The Digital Media Director will have one direct report upon hiring. We will be looking for an individual that will have the ability to support recruitment and oversee additional direct reports as our team continues to grow. Essential Job Duties/Functions [50%] Digital Media Program Strategy & Portfolio Oversight Develop and lead complex multi-channel digital strategy, planning, budget, structure, implementation, and evaluation based on goals and benchmarks defined by the leadership team Develop meaningful and actionable digital media metrics (ie KPIs, ROI, etc) and reporting (daily, short term, and long term) Collaborate across the organization with a wide range of stakeholders (internal and external) to influence roadmaps and prioritize content, experimentation, and marketing based on desired impact Lead and oversee the execution of organic and paid digital media experiments to support early innovation learning and scalability Lead and oversee the execution of organic and paid digital media marketing

to build relationships and achieve business objectives. Lead and oversee the process of gathering, organizing, aggregating, interpreting, and sharing results of data to produce meaningful insights in areas such as optimization, performance, quality, value, communication/messaging, constituent development, growth, sustainability, competitive research, impact, and more Engage in regular customer/constituent discovery & build relationships with the people in the communities we serve; pay attention to the needs, desires, and concerns of audiences and respond accordingly Lead creation of customer/constituent journey and experience maps for insights into constituent emotions, behaviors, identifying pain points, making interactions both more efficient and impactful Establish and maintain systems of determining levels of collaboration and/or partnerships with other entities relevant to digital media Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and the competitive landscape to inform marketing strategies and tactics Lead development of ongoing market and competitive analysis with the leadership team Oversee management of digital media assets portfolio [25%] Digital Media Creation, Production, and Efficacy Co-lead and support our Education Director, subject matter experts, design & brand management team, digital media team, program teams, and business development team in the production of sourcing, researching, and creating original, adapted, and amplified digital media assets for websites, newsletters, social media, and other platforms Create, lead, and oversee digital media production calendar, production process, practices, and management of assets and campaigns in collaboration with various stakeholders Co-lead and oversee digital media response strategy and management in collaboration with the Education Director, digital media team, and others as needed Lead and oversee assessment of the efficacy of digital media content based on meaningful and quantifiable learnings, results, and calls to action (examples: content sharing, donations/fundraising, product purchases, training signups, petition engagement, etc.) Lead and oversee the testing and development of customer/constituent segmentations to drive learnings around optimal audiences and channels [15%] Administration, Human Resources, and Organizational Support Lead and collaborate in cultural and human resource administration and development (including recruitment) for the digital media team Participate in internal communications, general organizational activities, financial, compliance, and administrative tasks Additional Responsibilities [10%] Education, Training, & Resource Development Co-create education, training, and resource development for the self & professional development of the organization; facilitate trainings, workshops, and thought-partnering sessions Contribute to ongoing knowledge development of the tools and systems required to extract, analyze, display, and communicate relevant data from numerous multi-channel sources Ongoing and continued learning and understanding of DanceSafe materials, programs, people, and practices Qualifications Passion and deep commitment to DanceSafe’s mission, vision, values, and principles (Strongly preferred) Lived experience as a member of one or more of the communities DanceSafe serves Deep understanding of digital media trends, platforms, technologies, practices, and specs Deep understanding of publishing, listening, analytics, and reporting tools and software for learning, performance reporting, and optimization (examples: Google Analytics, Data Studio, Sprout Social, Hootsuite, Business Manager, Audiences, CRMs, Buffer, SEO, marketing tools, etc.) Deep understanding of best practices for and commitment to accessibility, equity, ethics and cultural competence in media, marketing, content delivery, sustainable partnerships, and educational structures Highly analytical data mindset with the ability to leverage large amounts of data for insights to inform strategies and decision-making Advanced MS Excel or Google Sheets skills for processing, analyzing, and modeling data, SQL skills an absolute plus Intermediate understanding of relevant design software (examples: Photoshop, Sketch, Illustrator, InDesign, Canva, Adobe, etc) Proficiency with Google Suite, ClickUp, Slack, AirTable, Notion, Miro, and other remote office and collaboration tools Able to collaborate cross-functionally within an emergent and complex organization, including department/teams involving tech, programs, sales & marketing, operations, education, advocacy, legal, etc. Outstanding verbal, written, and digital communication skills; meticulous, consistent, and detail-oriented Requirements 7+ years of demonstrated experience in a upper-mid and/or top level digital media leadership position(s), preferably in nonprofit or advocacy organizations, with a track record of building relationships and achieving business objectives while honoring brand 7+ years experience with organic and paid digital marketing (including influencer relationships and media buying) 6+ years experience leveraging digital media publishing, listening, analytics, and reporting tools and software for learning, performance reporting, and optimization 5+ years experience leading methodologies such as Lean Startup, Lean Impact, Value Proposition Generation, experimentation, conversion optimization, A/B testing, customer journey mapping, as well as UI/UX elements. 5+ years experience with a variety of social platforms including WordPress, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Mailchimp, Radio, Video/Audio, Podcasts, TikTok, YouTube.

Salary and Benefits The salary for this position is $88,500. Salary offer is firm in a desire to keep compensation equitable within our organization.
