Description: Job Summary:Under the general supervision of the clinical director and department managers participates in the sleep centers daily functions and equipment needs, including material management and equipment procurement. Has advance knowledge and ability to perform comprehensive polysomnographic testing, analysis and recognizes the need for associated interventions. Provides clinical patient care and education to facilitate diagnosis of sleep disorders. Coordinates necessary preventive maintenance and repairs of all sleep equipment. Demonstrates performance consistent with the Medical Center Vision, Mission, and strategic plan of the organization. Remains flexible to changing systems; is expected to demonstrate quality and effectiveness in work habits and clinical practice; treats co-workers, patients, families, and all members of the health care team with dignity and respect.Essential Responsibilities:Performs and orients techs in polysomnographic data acquisition while monitoring study tracing quality to ensure signals are artifact free and makes adjustments as needed.Implements and orients techs in appropriate therapeutic interventions for patients safety to optimize patient health within scope of practice.Scores and trains technologist in the sleep/wake stages by applying professional accepted guidelines. Orients tech in scoring clinical events. Scores sleep studies for all age groups.Generates accurate reports by tabulating sleep/wake and clinical event data.Performs the quarterly QA scoring reliability of scorers and sleep technologist.Performs polysomnographic studies to include MSLTs, MWTs, PAP, and parasomnia and oxygen titration per scope of practice.Prepares and tracks departmental statistical information for quality improvement initiatives.Facilitates and/or performs patient follow up for CPAP compliance.Assist in resolving patient issues - complaints, related problems in a timely tegrates services/operations by communicating to department managers and Clinical Director of performance outcome measures of all staff.Provides staff feedback on study performance, staging, scoring, and treatment modalities.Responds to study participants procedural-related inquiries by providing appropriate information within scope of practice.Demonstrates the ability to analyze complex situations and apply policy.Collects, analyzes, and integrates patient information in order to identify and meet the patient specific pletes and verifies documentation.Is able to expertly perform all aspects of polysomnographic scoring and screening and must have knowledge of all polysomnographic modalities.Performs routine equipment care, maintenance, repairs, and inventory evaluation.Evaluates and maintains sleep study related equipment and inventory.Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and provide age specific care.Utilizes effective communication and interpersonal relationship skills when interacting with other members of the health care team or patients. Displays tact and courteous behavior when working with staff and patients.Actively participates in educational programs and staff meetings that are scheduled by department.Must complete annual competencies, as well as help validate staff competencies.Promotes, ensures, and improves customer service to internal/external customers by demonstrating skills which are consistent with the organizations philosophy of providing extraordinary customer relations and quality plies with applicable laws, regulations, guidelines, and standards including but not limited to safety and infection control issues.Upholds Kaiser Permanentes policies and procedures, Principles of Responsibilities and applicable state, federal, and local plies with the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BPRT) Standards of Conduct.MANAGERS EXPECTATIONS: Extraordinary customer relations and quality service are critical to our success. Basic Qualifications: Experience Basic Qualifications: Minimum 4 years experience in Polysomnography. Minimum of 2 years recent scoring experience. Education Successful completion of an accredited associates science degree in Polysomnography or Respiratory Care.Required to maintain Ten continuing educational hours per year in sleep related topics.
