Director of Tax

The Director of Tax is responsible for leading and overseeing all tax-related activities of the investment fund, including compliance, reporting, planning, and strategy. The ideal candidate will have significant experience with partnership-driven corporate tax intricacies across various fund types including but not limited to Real Estate, Private Equity, Venture Capital, Hedge Funds, and Credit.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead and manage tax compliance and reporting requirements in accordance with federal, state, and local laws.
Develop and implement effective tax planning strategies to optimize the fund’s tax position.
Oversee K-1 tax reporting for the fund’s investors.
Provide guidance on tax implications for fund structures and investments.
Conduct due diligence for tax-related matters in mergers, acquisitions, and fund formation.
Partner with the finance and accounting teams to integrate tax planning into financial and operational strategy.
Manage relationships with external tax advisors, auditors, and regulatory agencies.
Lead and mentor the internal tax team.
Stay updated on relevant tax law changes and ensure compliance and adaptation of new regulations.
Communicate tax strategies and impact clearly to senior management and board members.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Master's in Taxation or CPA preferred.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in tax roles, with at least 5 years in a leadership position.
Comprehensive understanding of tax codes, compliance, and procedures.
Significant experience with partnership tax intricacies in various sectors such as Real Estate, Private Equity, Venture Capital, Hedge Funds, and Credit is highly desirable.
Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
