Cage Washer

Length: 1 week a month contract with the possibility of extension; schedule might be for the 2nd or 3rd week of each month

Hours: Monday through Friday 8:00am-5:00pm

100% on-site must be fully vaccinated or participate in daily questionnaire and protocols.

3 must haves:

Must have demonstrated ability to handle and move the variety of metal racks with or without caging and other facility equipment.

Proven ability up to lift, push, pull and move up to 50 pounds.

Must be able to lift, push, pull and move up to 75 pounds with or without assistance.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

LAB ANIMAL HUSBANDRY CARE

This position provides animal husbandry services to research animals housed in ULAR facilities and provide nutritional needs of a variety of animal species.

Daily maintenance of animal facility following established industry standards and ULARs Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

Review assigned areas for items or activities that might raise protocol or regulatory compliance concerns. Upon discovery, remedy those that relate to the duties of Animal Technician, and report all others to supervisor or lead technician.

Transport animals, cages, supplies, and equipment to various campus locations as directed by supervisor or lead technician.

ANIMAL HEALTH MONITORING & RECORD KEEPING

Identify and report all sick and unhealthy animals to supervisor/ lead technician/veterinary staff. Assist in animal health screening programs as assigned.

Perform regularly scheduled record keeping duties, including cage census, feed/service logs, temperature/humidity charts, and receipts/packing slips, as directed by supervisor or lead technician.

Other duties as assigned.
