Job Description
Visa Technology & Operations LLC, a Visa Inc. company, needs a Staff Site Reliability Engineer (multiple openings) in Austin, TX to
•Responsible for monitoring, troubleshooting, automating, and developing software tools to improve the availability and resiliency of open-source Big Data Platforms at Visa.
•Administer and ensure performance, reliability, and increase the operational efficiency of open-source big data platforms.
•Perform Big Data Administration and Engineering activities on multiple opensource clusters.
•Build and maintain relationships with the customer teams, the user community, architects, and engineering teams.
•Jointly work on key deliverables ensuring production scalability and stability. Analyze major production incidents and develop learning documentation.
•Identify and implement HA solution for services with SPOF.
•Plan and perform capacity expansion and upgrades in a timely manner, avoiding any scaling issues and bugs.
•Automate repetitive tasks to reduce manual effort and avoid human error.
•Tune alerting and setup observability to proactively identify the issues and performance problems.
•Work closely with L-3 teams in reviewing new user cases and cluster hardening techniques for building a robust and reliable platform.
•Leverage devops tools, disciplines (incident, problem and change management), and standards in day-to-day operations.
•Ensure the Hadoop platform can effectively meet performance and SLA requirements.
•Perform security remediation, automation and selfheal as per the requirement.
•Position reports to the Employer's Austin, Texas office and may allow for partial telecommuting.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electronics/Electrical Engineering, or related field and five years of progressive, post baccalaureate experience in the job offered or in a Staff Site Reliability Engineer-related occupation.
- Debugging Hadoop platform and application issues.
- Building, managing, and tuning performance of Hadoop platform and application.
- Zookeeper, HDFS, Yarn, HIVE and/or SPARK.
- Shell and Python programming.
- Kerberos and Ranger.
- Linux
Additional Information
Worksite: Austin, TX
This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.
Travel Requirements: This position does not require travel.
Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is $120,162.00 USD to $190,400.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for an annual bonus and equity.
