McLean, United States Capital One Full time

Center 2 (19050), United States of America, McLean, Virginia Senior Risk Associate, Market Risk and Capital The Liquidity, Market, and Capital Risk Oversight (LMCRO) team is seeking a motivated candidate for a Senior Risk Associate position. LMCRO is a second line of defense Independent Risk Management (IRM) function responsible for oversight of the company's measurement and management of risks across the crisis continuum, including liquidity risk, market risk-taking and management, capital measurement and management, and recovery and resolution planning. This includes regulatory stress testing (e.g., CCAR, ILST and other resilience analysis), regulatory requirements (e.g., Basel), overall liquidity, market, and capital risk management frameworks, and regulatory compliance. In a time of banking industry and macroeconomic uncertainty, coupled with many proposed prudential regulatory changes, this associate will get exposure to a variety of topics and have an opportunity to make an impact in how the firm responds to these challenges in a well managed manner. The second line of defense is both an expert advisor to the first line and an effective challenger of first line risk activities. The successful candidate will help to influence the company's approaches and processes for managing capital and liquidity, and will build strong partnerships with the first line of defense teams and other internal independent review and challenge organizations (e.g., Enterprise Risk Management, Model Risk, and Internal Audit). This individual must be able to effectively communicate and influence partners across the company and across multiple levels of the organization. Risk Associates at Capital One are highly motivated risk and process management professionals with excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. These skills allow the Risk Associate to gain insights, and act as a change agent to influence their partner organizations. The ideal candidate will be a highly-motivated risk or process management professional with excellent process improvement and communication skills. The candidate will be detail-oriented and results focused, and will have a proven record of problem solving and collaborating with others. Responsibilities: Serve as the team's market risk management compliance subject matter expert, owning the relationship with Corporate Compliance, executing against Compliance's "minimum standards", and maintaining an understanding of industry best practices, industry/regulatory trends, and supervisory guidance. Drive our team's governance, process, and control assessment program by maintaining our effective challenge framework and engaging with our first line partners to assess their processes and control infrastructure supporting market risk management and other areas of financial risk management. Own, maintain, and execute the team's change management (e.g., new products, treasury new initiatives process, etc.) and issue management framework. Identify and govern the risk and control data within our risk data infrastructure which includes: Identifying opportunities to further improve or design dashboards, tools, and processes related to data governance; Proposing enhancements to ensure our risk and control data quality is well-managed within our applications; Facilitating discussions with our stakeholders to improve the overall health of our risk/control environment. Design and manage monitoring plans, oversight, and compliance assessments as part of the Company's overall Risk management framework, ensuring Compliance, Audit and Regulatory requirements are being met. Provide support in ensuring LMCRO's governance frameworks are implemented appropriately, interacting with and influencing a wide range of stakeholder groups. Strategically drive consistent approaches across liquidity, market, and capital risk management oversight frameworks. Help manage the "in-cycle" CCAR review and challenge process (e.g. evaluating first line documentation against LMCRO's review and challenge requirements, processing challenges through the system of record, etc.). Lead the creation of various presentation materials for diverse stakeholders and governance committees. Actively track regulatory and industry trends and events to evaluate potential blind spots and drive enhancements in the team's governance frameworks for market, liquidity, and capital risk. Help develop communications to senior management, regulators, and auditors. Evaluating design and operating effectiveness of controls, writing control assessments, and developing recommendations to partner teams for improving internal controls. The ideal candidate will possess: Strong execution skills with commitment to detail. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Problem solving and innovative thinking skills. Ability to collaborate, build positive relationships, and exert influence without direct authority. Ability to apply strong judgment in areas of ambiguity.
