CONTINGENT UPON AWARDING OF GOVERNMENT CONTRACT
The Structural Engineer is responsible for reviewing drawings and information and applying technical support in the areas of structural engineering and scientific planning or related areas.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- The Structural Engineer shall provide independent, timely and professional structural engineering support, services and consultation for the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of facilities.
- Perform technical reviews of project drawings to determine security impacts and assess compliance with construction standards.
- Typical projects will involve calculation of environmental and blast loads; analysis and design of vertical and lateral force resisting system, shallow and deep foundations, retaining structures, and utility supports; and design of structural elements using common building materials (concrete, steel and timber).
- The Structural Engineer assists in developing reports on structural and compliance with engineering standards.
- Performs technical reviews, quality control, and project management on building projects from planning and programming through construction.
- Provides guidance regarding Forced Entry and Ballistic Resistant (FEBR) doors, glazing systems, progressive collapse and the design, construction and installation methods for these systems.
- The Structural Engineer conducts site surveys and walks of project locations.
- Liaise with multiple stakeholders including project teams and legislative branch agencies.
- Creates and provides required briefings.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge and experience with FEBR doors, glazing systems, progressive collapse and the design, construction, and installation methods for these systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to make oral presentations of proposed designs and results of studies.
- Demonstrated experience performing technical reviews, quality control, and project management on building projects from planning and programming through construction.
- The Structural Engineer must have a current Top Secret personnel security clearance and the ability to maintain such clearance throughout the life of the contract.
- Minimum of ten (10), preferably twelve (12), years of experience as a Structural Engineer.
- Bachelor's Degree in structural engineering from an accredited institution
