Retail Assistant

Position Summary:

Sand Valley is seeking a Retail Assistant to join our high volume and fast paced retail operation. We are looking for friendly, enthusiastic, and passionate people with a strong desire to provide our guests with excellent customer service. This seasonal position will work alongside a team of like-minded customer-first individuals, focused on providing the friendliest retail and golf experience in the country.

The Retail Assistant assists the Head Golf Professional and Retail Team in the management of all aspects of the golf shop including inventory control and cleanliness of the golf shops. Ensures the merchandise displays are properly stocked and organized. Other duties may involve handling cash and credit transactions, working with assistant golf professionals to check in golfers, interacting with guests and other associates within the resort, providing information, and handling requests and issues with a positive attitude in a friendly, professional manner.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

•Be knowledgeable of all golf shop merchandise. Sell merchandise and provide suggestions to guests as appropriate to meet their needs. Assist customers with special merchandise orders.

•Collect money or process credit cards, record sales transactions, and issue receipts for all merchandise sales, greens fees, pull carts, and rental club fees.

•Assists with all opening and closing procedures for the golf shop.

•Assist in packing, unpacking, arranging, and displaying golf shop inventory. Assist with the physical inventory at month's end in accordance with inventory procedures.

•Act as a role model for all employees by demonstrating the behavior and work ethic expected of all employees.

•Maintains an attractive and orderly appearance in and around the golf shop.

•Answer phones and always maintain pleasant and professional telephone manners.

•Schedule tee times and handle customer inquiries and complaints in accordance with operating policies and procedures as needed.

•Perform other duties as assigned by the leadership team.

Qualifications:

•One year experience in customer service/retail sales/golf shop environment preferred.

•Strong organizational, planning, and prioritization skills.

•Service and customer-focused attitude.

•Demonstrated quality written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

•Experienced computer user, including Microsoft Word and Excel. Proficient in other applications, i.e., email, internet, and database.

•Ability to analyze and solve problems; efficiently handle multiple duties under pressure with minimal supervision; work flexible hours as required including nights/weekends.

•Positive attitude, professional manner and appearance in all situations.

•Maintain and promote a positive professional image within the community.

Working Conditions:

Typical office setting with overheard lighting and adjustable ventilation. This individual may be exposed from time to time to inclement weather; potentially dangerous pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers; equipment movement hazards; misdirected golf balls.Injury may result as a result of exposure to the above if safety policies and practices are not properly followed at all times.

Physical Requirements:

Must have the ability to:

•Read and write (English)

•Communicate verbally with staff members with or without the use of two-way radios.

•Give and/or follow verbal and written instructions

•Visually inspect all work areas

•Operate vehicles and equipment for several hours at a time

•Perform mathematical calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages

•Retrieve, read and interpret information from technical sources

•Stand, walk, push, pull, lift, grasp, bend and kneel for up to 5 hours at a time

•Lift up to 100 lbs occasionally, 50 lbs frequently, and 20 lbs constantly
