Purchasing Agent - Residential Construction

Were seeking a residential construction procurement professional to join the growing team

Key Responsibilities:
  • Cultivate and nurture relationships with potential vendors, while visiting their facilities to gain insight into their products and services.
  • Ensure timely acquisition of labor and materials to meet construction schedules, uphold quality standards, and stay within budgetary constraints.
  • Maintain detailed specifications and manage budgets effectively.
  • Develop and oversee contracts with subcontractors, ensuring clarity and adherence to project requirements.
  • Verify the accuracy of insurance and licensing documentation for subcontractors to mitigate risk.
  • Oversee the scope of work documentation to ensure alignment with project objectives.
  • Create comprehensive bid packages and facilitate the bid submission process.
  • Conduct thorough pricing comparisons and negotiate to secure optimal rates for materials and labor.
  • Collaborate with the accounting team to facilitate timely payments to subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Research and provide information to address subcontractor payment inquiries.
  • Evaluate subcontractors based on criteria including price, quality, and availability.
  • Maintain accurate records of payments, receipts, and inventory.
Qualifications:
  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to make sound judgments and decisions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Experience with single and multi-family residential construction

  • Collaborative approach to working with trade partners and colleagues across departments.
  • 1-3 years of experience in residential construction procurement.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in sales and pricing analysis preferred.
