Acadia Realty Trust is currently seeking an Senior Accountant, Financial Reporting. This position will take an active role in ensuring that significant transactions are properly accounted for and disclosed under US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and rules for public companies set forth by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX). In that regard, this role will assist with:
Researching new accounting pronouncements as well as documenting the Companys related position and changes in procedures and disclosures, if applicable
Track and analyze the Companys material deals and transactions as they relate to GAAP and SEC requirements; create memos documenting technical accounting and disclosure considerations; work with accounting staff to ensure transactions are properly recorded
Assist in the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures
Act as liaison between the Companys third-party internal audit firm, the Companys Audit Committee and the Company for SOX matters involving internal controls over financial reporting
PPA and Lease Accounting review and analysis
Work very closely with the Director, Financial Reporting and will be a driving force in the preparation of the Companys public disclosures including the Companys quarterly financial statements, Supplemental Report, press releases and SEC filings
Collaborate with the accounting team in the preparation of various disclosures
Coordinate the review and proofing of financial statements / filings
Document compliance with disclosure requirements
Assist with the review of XBRL
Other accounting and reporting related projects as needed
The Company will consider candidates that possess the following characteristics:
Bachelors degree in Accounting or equivalent is required
CPA or equivalent is required
3-5 years public accounting experience, Big 4 or national firm
Experience working with public companies and review of SEC filings
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Strong public speaking and presentation skills
Ability to interact with all levels of personnel
A hands-on approach and strong work ethic
Experience with the real estate industry is preferred
The base salary compensation range for this role reflects the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each individual. A reasonable estimate of the current base salary range for this position is $95,000 to $120,000.
Employees may also be eligible to participate in an annual discretionary bonus program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
