In support of this mission, we're seeking a candidate driven to collaborate, committed to building, engaging with and sustaining a welcoming campus community over the long-term, and ambition to develop subject matter expertise.The primary responsibility of the Civil Rights Investigator is to conduct prompt, thorough, and impartial investigations into reports of harassment, discrimination, sexual misconduct, and retaliation against faculty, staff, affiliates, and non-affiliates at Boston University pursuant to University policy as well as state and federal law. This includes collecting information in an efficient and supportive manner, composing a clear final report detailing the information obtained, and applying logical reasoning to make findings of fact and responsibility in accordance with University standards.In addition to formal investigations, the Investigator will facilitate informal resolution to help prevent behaviors from reoccurring and bridge the gap between intention and impact. The Investigator will also support the development and delivery of education and prevention programs and work collaboratively with campus partners to promote the EOO mission and build trust with campus constituents.Required SkillsA cover letter is required for consideration. Master's Degree in higher education student affairs, social work, conflict resolution, counseling, JD, or a related field with three to five years of relevant professional experience.Experience with problem-solving and conflict resolution.Demonstrated understanding of and sensitivity to meeting the needs of individuals from diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds.Ability to remain neutral and objective while handling highly sensitive and confidential information with discretion and compassion.High level of personal and professional ethics.Experience collecting information in a way that is both efficient and people-oriented (i.e., trauma informed and supportive).Proficient ability to effectively facilitate verbal and written communication.
