DescriptionGENERAL SUMMARYSupervises the employees and activities of the dispatch center; and performs duties utilizing the materials and equipment of the emergency dispatcher service.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESThe intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by incumbents of this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description. Supervises staff, which includes prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff is trained; ensuring employees follow policies and procedures; maintaining a healthy and safe working environment; and, making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations. Reviews work instructions for the area; interprets instructions for employees; and makes revisions as needed. Oversees and ensures the maintenance of recordkeeping, work product quality and quality control in accordance with guidelines and directives. Develops alternative strategies to address and resolve a variety of issues and problems. Directs and/or participates in the development of goals and objectives of the work area; and makes recommendations for changes in policies, rules and regulations. Serves as liaison with local, state and federal agencies on matters relating to emergency dispatch operations. Performs other related duties of a similar nature and level as assigned. Employees are required to comply with safety regulations, procedures, protocols, OSHA standards, and wear personal protective gear if required.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEducation and Experience6 months to 1 year of advanced study or training beyond high school equivalency, with 3 to 5 years related experience.
