To ensure success, HR generalists should exhibit strong decision-making skills with a deep understanding of employee relationships, staffing, management, and training. The top candidates will be comfortable managing and applying logic, policy, and law relative to difficult areas, effective at scheduling and methodical in the recruitment process.
The HR Generalist will report to the Managing Director and will work collaboratively with the leadership team, managers, external resources, and employees to accomplish all aspects of the role successfully.
HR Generalist Responsibilities:
Information Monitoring: 40%

  • Be the lead on all internal and external HR-related matters, ensuring consistent compliance with company policies and procedures and legal responsibilities.
  • Continuous monitoring and updating of polices & procedures, including checklists and standard operating procedures. Ex. Handbook, benefits resources etc.
  • Perform monthly reconciliation of benefits premium billing with accounting team to ensure proper invoicing
  • Performs audits on employee records and make relevant updates in HRIS system.
  • Respond to verification of employment requests as needed.
  • Execute timely the EK employee surveys required two times a year to maintain monitored data through survey monkey and provide results in comparative format against prior year(s) to the Leadership team and employees. Will make necessary recommendations for improvement and lead on implementing any new actions or policies approved by the Managing Director or the Leadership team.
Technical Knowledge/Day-To-Day - 40%
  • Develop, promote, and enforce personnel policies, organizational guidelines and procedures to ensure consistency and compliance. Investigate complaints brought forward by employees.
  • Manage employee advocacy and conflict resolution and provide guidance regarding disciplinary actions.
  • Assist with the recruitment process by identifying candidates, conducting reference checks, assisting in sourcing, screening, interviewing, and selecting candidates and issuing employment contracts.
  • Facilitate the new hire orientation process, including benefits enrollment, new hire announcement, database update, background checks, DiSC profiles(as required by position) and create employee's personnel file making sure that all necessary policies, documents and tax records are properly executed and communicated to payroll for benefits and pay timely to ensure accurate payroll processing. Make sure that all documents are filed electronically as well as hardcopy to the employee's file.
  • Monitor/track key metrics for the department as well as report them at LAT and Town Hall.
  • Creates each year and manages the employee rewards, dues, subscriptions, memberships and training budgets.
  • Conduct exit interviews and analyze data to identify areas for organizational improvement.
  • Keep up-to-date with the latest HR trends and best practices.
  • Maintain Key Performance Indicators to goal that are in line with companies #1 Place to Work initiatives.
Building Partnerships - 15%
  • Conduct/Review/monitor employee performance reviews to ensure fairness and consistency.
  • Develop and oversee employee benefits and wellness programs, assist in employee benefits administration and facilitate open enrollment processes
  • Coordinate employee development plans and performance management.
  • Promote employee career development and job training.
  • Assist and facilitate employee recognition and outreach initiatives and assist with coordination of the company events.
  • Works to enhance the EK core values and goals with employees, vendors and customers within the HR role.
  • Promotes an atmosphere of safety and consistency providing timely feedback and communication, which includes coordination of OSHA, Federal, State and Local posting and reporting that is required.
Other Duties as Assigned. 5%
HR Generalist Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or related (essential).
  • 2 years of experience as an HR coordinator (essential).
  • Deep understanding of Labor Law and employment equity regulations.
  • Efficient HR administration and people management skills.
  • Excellent record-keeping skills.
  • Fantastic knowledge of HR functions and best practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Superb computer literacy with capability in email, MS Office and related HR software.
  • Remarkable organizational and conflict management skills.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • SHRM certification PHR or CP a plus.
Physical Requirements:
  • Able to stand, sit, talk, hear, reach, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, keyboard, and phone.
  • Familiar and able to use basic office equipment, printers, copiers, staplers, etc.
  • Available during the hours of operation. Office hours are 8am-4:30pm. Must be physically in the office up to 3 days a week available to employees to address their needs face to face as it relates to the job or benefits. Preferably 5 days but flexible to support remote working up to 2 days a week.
  • Exemplarily able to plan, organize, communicate, and perform all the duties of the job description as defined by the HR Generalist job description. (see attached job description for details)
  • Able to lift 1-10 lbs. on occasion relative to the position.
  • Minimal walking on occasion as needed to do the job.
  • Travel to and from facilities near the main office location on occasion to perform duties as needed for meetings, and events.
  • Able to follow rules and policies of the company that are in place per the handbook or other policies that exist that are known to the general employee or within this position or the HR department.
