**Job Details** **Description** The Buyer is responsible for ensuring that the necessary inventory is on hand to support manufacturing operations based on forecasting, demand, and supply planning. This role will have one direct report and will drive improvements in the purchasing processes concerning pricing, MOQs, and service. **Key Responsibilities** * Use material planning and analytical skills to identify component and material needs to support manufacturing operations and communicate risks to the production schedule. * Support new product development through cooperative procurement of product introductions; end of life product run outs and conversions, and communication to the business of any shortfalls. * Identify new and alternate sources of supply as necessary to support cost reduction initiatives and supplier performance issues. * Work with customers to plan inbound material receipts for customer supplied components to ensure that there are no overstock situations. * Take proactive leadership role in identifying and resolving material availability, quality problems and service issues. * Establish and monitor safety stock levels and reorder points to ensure no material shortages exists while maintaining acceptable inventory levels. * Measure and communicate supplier performance metrics related to quality, service, pricing. * Leverage scale of the operation to purchase materials with lowest cost option while maintaining proper inventory levels. * Maintain master data specific to pricing, lead-times, lot size, etc. * Establish and maintain good supplier relationships. **Key Qualifications** * Bachelor degreed preferred * 5+ years related experience of purchasing management (e.g. material planning, procurement, etc.) in a manufacturing environment * Experience in bidding, negotiating, preparing and administering contracts and agreements for goods and/or services. * Exposure in Materials and Requirements Planning (MRP) systems and maintenance/operations planning. * Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc) to drive purchasing decisions * Proficient with Excel spreadsheets * Effective communication skills (oral, written and listening) and interpersonal skills required to interact and participate in a team environment. * Experience in packaging and/or chemical related field is a plus **Qualifications** **Skills** **Behaviors** **:** **Motivations** **:** **Education** **Experience** **Licenses & Certifications**
