**_Occupational Therapist - Home Care - Mercy Health Lorain (PRN)_**

**This is a PRN "As Needed" Position**

**General Summary**

Occupational Therapist to assist with evaluation of patients and treat, over see and create plan of care for the OTA, for patients in their home. The Occupational Therapist establishes and evaluates treatment program for patients whose abilities to perform daily living tasks and vocational tasks normally performed at his/her stage of development are threatened or impaired by developmental deficiencies, the aging process, environmental deprivation, physical illness, injury, perceptual, cognitive and psycho-social deficits. Teaches patients, family members and students. Participates in program development and quality assurance.

**Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**

Bachelor of Science degree or Masters degree in Occupational Therapy at an accredited university.

Current license to practice Occupational Therapy in the state of Ohio.

Current CPR certification through the American Heart Association required.

AOTA membership is desirable.

Good interpersonal skills are necessary in order to effectively interact with physicians and other clinicians patients and families.

Requires critical observation skills and creative problem solving abilities.

Must be able to apply activity analysis in the selection/adaptation of therapeutic activities.

Prefer pediatric experience and or lymphedema certified but not required.

**Working Conditions**

Moderate level (50% or more of time) of physical exertion required. Frequent exposure (up to 80% of time) to adverse conditions. When inside well-lighted, air-conditioned environment. May involve traveling for facility design evaluations, home evaluations, community reintegration activities and to Satellite operations. Frequent exposure to physical and mental disabilities, pain, grief and death. May be exposed to contagious disease or infection.
