Job Description: SUMMARY The Woodbridge School District is a PK-6 elementary school employing approximately 165 staff members to serve and educate approximately 880 students. For the 2024/25 school year, the District seeks a Cafeteria Supervisor. This is a (10) ten-month position based upon the school calendar and reports to the Director of Business Services/ Operations. Performs tasks required for the safe and proper preparation of nutritious meals or food items to students, staff, and school personnel. Maintains kitchen work areas / food preparation equipment and utensils in clean and orderly condition; supports the efficient operation of the Food Service Department and implements department goals and directives by performing the following duties. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE - High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Supervises all Cafeteria food servers and other kitchen help and performs annual evaluation of staff and coordinates staff training. Places food and supply orders with appropriate vendors in a timely manner; places orders for government commodities. Performs inventory counts in accordance with schedules. Counts and records daily meals sold, records in computer, counts and deposits cash receipts daily. Responsible for meal accountability requirements of the program. Certified in Food Safety and Sanitation. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Operates basic kitchen and food service equipment in a safe and sanitary manner. Performs daily activities including food preparation, heating and service to customers. Maintains kitchen, food and supplies in a clean, safe and sanitary condition. Checks, stores, and cares for supplies. Assists with issuing meal tickets. When needed, operates cash register, takes tickets and cash for sale of food items and meals. Transfers supplies and equipment between storage and work areas. Sets up for special events. Other duties may be assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily in a timely fashion. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES Must be able to learn how to and properly and safely operate kitchen equipment. Works with employees effectively. Interacts with students, staff, and manager and administrators in a pleasant and appropriate manner. Understands and follow food quality and food safety and sanitation procedures. Meets and maintains state, local and district standards related to food preparation and service personnel. Able to stand and/or walk for up to eight hours on cement quarry tile floors. Possesses us of full range of motion at a standard height worktable, dishwasher and/or pot and pan sink. This includes bending and reaching. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to communicate information in one-on one and small group situations to students, school personnel, supervisor(s), customers, and community members. Basic proficiency in reading and writing in English. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to perform operations using units of American money and weight measurement and volume. Able to operate a cash register for purposes of taking receipts and making change. SALARY: Ranges from $30 to $35/per hour based on experience; 6.5 to 8 hours per day. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This is a (10) ten-month assignment based upon the school calendar and student year. Actual days may vary dependent on the number of days meals are served to students. Benefits are in conjunction with Non-Certified Personnel Supervisory Positions for full-time employees working at least 30 hours per week and 181 days.
