Overview:

This role will serve as the primary electrical and automation resource for the plant. The top priority for this role is responding to day-to-day plant issues relating to automation systems, which will require on-call support on nights and weekends to meet business needs. Outside of that top priority, this role will also work on project teams and with design contractors to realize objectives of technical programs and projects involving automation technologies. Role works closely with the following team members: Leveraged Automation & Process Control Engineer, Area Manager, Plant Manager, E&I Technician, IT Resource, Process Engineers, and DCS Operators.

Responsibilities:

The essential roles and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Troubleshoot control system, electrical, and instrumentation issues as needed to support plant uptime
  • Automates and manages existing automation of process functions
  • Coordinate lifecycle upgrades for electrical, instrumentation, and control systems, including maintaining spare parts inventories and basic administration of control system applications
  • Support and maintain key electrical infrastructure
  • Provide automation systems input into project development and design schedules, including identifying and leading controls-related projects
  • Develop and maintain electrical and automation documentation, including procedures, databases, backups, drawings, schematics, etc.
  • Maintain vendor and contractor agreements and relationships
  • Ensure compliance to and contribute to the ongoing maintenance of the Process Safety Management (PSM) program, including participation in Process Hazards Analysis (PHA), Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA), Management of Change (MOC), Alarm Management (AM), and Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) programs
  • Participate in investigations of electrical and automation related incidents and ensure follow-up actions are completed to prevent recurrence
  • Perform job in a way that supports the sites High Performance Work System (HPWS), including training team members to improve the understanding of the areas electrical and automation systems
