Overview

Through our carefully curated selection of merchandise, we guide and inspire our customers to make style a creative source of energy in their lives. To help us consistently meet our customer demands, our Planning team uses analytics to develop localized strategies that maximize sales. The Manager, Merchandise Planning & Allocation is responsible for driving sales, margin and turn for an assigned area of business across stores and online channels. In this role, you will aggregate the financial plan and forecast across the assigned area of business to ensure they support and deliver company goals. You will also maintain planner responsibilities for the area of business as outlined below. As a leader, you will inspire and empower your team by fostering a culture of excellence, agility, and continuous learning. Our ideal candidate is a strategic, analytical leader who can skillfully collaborate with and influence partners at all levels of the organization.

Essential Functions

Planning
  • Execute pre-season financial plans, including creation of all department and vendor plans and daily sales plans
  • Allocate orders to maximize business by channel and location
  • Leverage pre-market and in-season analysis to develop strategies for maximizing sales and profitability
Team Management
  • Develop team through individual and team goal setting, coaching, timely and actionable feedback, and by driving high-quality execution standards
  • Train and develop team of 2-4 direct reports in key planning systems (PACE, A3, Affinity, OCAA) and processes
  • Empower team to make independent strategic decisions, thereby building confidence, promoting ownership, and laying the foundation for greater responsibility
  • Facilitate accurate communication of area of business and Planning priorities through regular team meetings with Planners
Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • Education/Experience: We encourage candidates with either a bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in a related field to apply. Minimum of 5 years of relevant analytical experience
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to read, write, and interpret instructional documents such as reports and procedure manuals
  • Mathematical Skills: Minimum of average mathematical skills, including the ability to compute rates, ratios and percentages
  • Reasoning Ability: Must be highly analytical, strategic, and able to identify data trends, risks, and opportunities. Ability to manage workflow independently and effectively with minimal direction
  • Physical Demands: This position involves regular walking, standing, hearing, and talking. May occasionally involve stooping, kneeling, or crouching. Involves close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment
  • Other Skills: Thorough knowledge of key planning systems (PACE, A3, Affinity, OCAA) and processes
  • Demonstrated ability to balance multiple projects/priorities and be flexible in response to changing priorities
  • Highly self-motivated with a commitment to excellence
  • Strong team player who leverages others to make better decisions
  • Strong PC skills, particularly Excel (i.e. v-lookups, pivot tables, sumifs)
  • Ability to influence and collaborate effectively with cross-functional partners at all levels of the organization; broker mutually beneficial outcomes
  • Proven leadership skills with ability to manage, motivate, and develop team members while driving results
  • Work Hours: Ability to work a flexible schedule based on department and store/company needs. Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality is required
