JOB DESCRIPTION: Nursery Manager JOB OVERVIEW: The Nursery Coordinator should be emotionally stable and spiritually mature. They should demonstrate a strong sense of organization, knowledge of early childhood development, good communication skills, and the ability to work well with others and use discretion when working with parents/guardians and volunteers. They should have certification in infant/child CPR and first aid and be willing to submit to a background check and/or drug screen at any time. Performance of other duties may be required (ex: special event nursery coverage, specific nursery cleaning and programming). Responsible to the Church Council for developing, planning, implementing, and reviewing nursery policies to ensure quality care for children, and to ensure good stewardship of resources at Resurrection Evangelical Lutheran Church. Responsibilities: Responsible for staffing the nursery for all regular church events and occasional special events. The nursery is open from Labor Day up to Memorial Day and closed during the summer. Open beginning with the first service at 8:30 am and close at the conclusion of the second service around 11:00 am. Manage equipment needs within the stated budget and submit records of expenses for reimbursement. Create and maintain a Nursery Themed bulletin board and signage. Supervise adult or youth volunteers and ensure they are trained in the policies of the nursery. Oversee the care, maintenance, cleanliness, security, and safety of the nursery room and equipment. Communicate effectively with parents/guardians of children. Attend training sessions and/or advisement suggested by the church council, pastor, or other assigned supervising agent. DUTIES: Develop and implement age-appropriate programs and activities for children in the nursery. Supervise and support nursery staff, including hiring, training, and conducting performance evaluations. Maintain a clean and organized nursery environment that meets health and safety standards. Communicate effectively with parents regarding their child's progress, behavior, and any concerns that may arise. Manage inventory of supplies and equipment needed for the nursery. Implement policies and procedures to ensure efficient daily operations of the nursery. Collaborate with other departments to coordinate events or activities involving the nursery. EXPERIENCE: Previous experience in nannying, classroom teaching, childcare, or related field. Familiarity with first aid procedures and ensuring a safe environment for children. Experience working with children of various ages, including those with special needs or behavioral challenges. Knowledge of daycare regulations and best practices in early childhood education. Ability to demonstrate effective behavior management techniques. Experience working with students or individuals in a teaching capacity is a plus. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children, excellent communication skills, strong leadership abilities, and the ability to create a positive and engaging atmosphere for young learners. A background in special education or babysitting is advantageous.
