Overview:

The Business Analyst reviews and analyzes key business metrics to devise plans for improvement, then communicates these findings with the Vice President of Operations and other key leaders. As an excel expert, you thrive in analyzing data and creating spreadsheets. This position will work very closely with the Vice President of Operations

Responsibilities:
  • Strategic planning and execution to reduce costs, improve productivity, and enhance profitability throughout the organization i.e. assisting with multiple hotels
  • Excel expert with knowledge of basic functions and formulas, if/then statements, v-lookup, pivot tables, CSV manipulation, Key Performance Indicator dashboard creation, and VBA.
  • Accurately and thoroughly report the status of finances every week via a Financial Dashboard
  • Create a Business Dashboard weekly.
  • Data integration (input) from another 3rd party financial, market, and customer service data system
  • Develop innovative initiatives to enhance internal efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Evaluating operational efficiency, scheduling, development, evaluation, and performance of the hotel
  • Monitor department performance against performance goals to ensure that expectations are exceeded.
  • Analyzing reports and presenting results/findings (i.e. trend analysis); providing statistical analysis in layman's terms
  • Constant improvement of reporting and auditing within each department
  • Review and analyze business plans and the actual performance of the hotel
  • Gather and maintain market data and research on industry trends and happenings.
  • Perform risk assessments to determine areas of concern.
  • Improve audit plans to validate that controls exist and effectively mitigate risks and execute those plans within given timelines, communicating results to management through concise audit reports.
  • Assists with special projects as needed.

Qualifications:
  • Strong experience working with financial statements.
  • At least 2 years in a business analyst role in a service-based industry Hospitality or F&B industry is preferred but not required.
  • Must display a positive and proactive attitude; and be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships, often with key senior leadership.
  • Advanced Excel capabilities - pivot tables, formulas, formatting, conditional formatting, macros, dashboards, etc. required.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong organization skills with the ability to prioritize and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Outstanding critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Candidate should possess good communication skills and work well in groups.
  • Ability to complete projects in a timely manner.
  • Role to be based in New York City.

Annual Compensation: $90k-$100k
