Pittsburg State University is accepting applications for a Maintenance and Repair Worker in the Facility Operations department. The primary function of the Maintenance and Repair Worker is to perform general maintenance and repair tasks in assigned areas. Positions assigned to the job may also assist custodial staff. Duties and Responsibilities: 85% - Performs maintenance and facilities custodial responsibilities. Follows an established inspection routine in an assigned group of facilities for needed maintenance, custodial services, and repairs in various trades to include mechanical, electrical, and plumbing. Operates power hand tools and electrical instruments. Repairs and/or replaces 277/120 volt switches, receptacles, ballasts, light bulbs, exit lights and indoor/outdoor lighting, maintains controlled lighting and light fixtures. Maintains adequate supply of tools, parts, and supplies. Orders inventory for parts and supplies. Records and updates equipment information to Physical Plant. Mounts and repairs towel dispensers, soap dispensers, and tissue holders; replaces ceiling tiles; performs general window maintenance. Performs preventive maintenance and repairs on custodial equipment, vacuum sweepers, wet and dry vacuums, buffers, and all auto ride-on manual scrubbers. Performs cleaning and/or maintenance at the football stadium and chapel. Inspects safety equipment, devices, and fire extinguishers; ensures use of all safety equipment; implements and performs scheduled preventive maintenance on equipment; notifies Maintenance Supervisor or Power Plant Department of any equipment shutdowns. Responds to after-hour emergency calls; overtime hours as required. Assists with other maintenance areas and in other work areas as assigned by Maintenance Supervisor and/or Director. Assists with inclement weather issues; communicates and reports maintenance issues as required for efficient and safe resolution; directs and supervises assigned employees; performs related and unrelated tasks assigned by Maintenance Supervisor and/or Director. 10% - Operates all industrial lifts, light automotive equipment, motorized equipment, pickup trucks, forklifts, automobiles, and blowers; loads, unloads, and delivers supplies to all buildings; travels to other locations to transport equipment and materials. Operates two- and three-ton bucket trucks. 5% - Sets up and takes down equipment as assigned for special events in buildings or outdoor areas, including chairs, tables, platforms, signage, decorations, and floor coverings; participates in take down and clean up after events; unlocks and locks buildings; turns on/off lights as needed; checks for emergency repairs or maintenance and reports to proper trade services.
