Senior Manager, Financial Planning

Job Description

Provides oversight of Budget & Financial Planning Operations and related responsibilities and processes; to include management of various financial functions such as budgeting, projection, and financial planning and reporting processes, development and implementation of departmental training, and ad-hoc and standardized internal and external reporting in accordance with requirements established by the State of Texas and the University of Texas System Administration.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as consultant and advisor to senior leadership and departmental administrators on a range of strategic planning efforts and budgetary matters.
  • Assists in formulating and administering institutional budget policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws and reglations of the State of Texas and the University of Texas System
  • Provides leadership to managers, supervisors and/or professional staff; accountable for the performance and results of multiple related units.
  • Manages multiple projects or functional areas within a division at a single location.
  • Reviews funding availability and authorizes departmental requests for budget revisions, new positions, and position modifications.
  • Communicates budget strategies and policies to departmental management and coordinates budget preparation efforts to ensure information required from all areas of the institution are received in a timely manner.
  • Manages the enhancement of budgeting systems and associated development and implementation of training needed for accurately compiling, monitoring and analyzing consolidated budget plans, and in order to monitor actual performance against strategic priorities.
  • Management duties include interviewing, selecting and training of employees; planning and directing work; appraising productivity and efficiency, handling complaints/grievances and disciplining when necessary.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

EDUCATION:
  • Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
EXPERIENCE
  • Eight (8) years of progressive related experience or CPA certification with (6) years of accounting experience, including three (3) years in a supervisory capacity is required.
