Description:

Seeking an EH&S chemist that will work with a small team of talented chemists, chemical and mechanical engineers and technicians under the direction of highly experienced Ph.D. chemists and chemical engineers to shepherd breakthrough designs from ideas to production hardware. This is a hands-on position, where you will be doing chemical synthesis, analytical work, and data analysis. Responsibilities

+ Develop and implement health and safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations

+ Evaluate operations and projects to ensure and improve compliance with EH&S requirements to ensure hazards are identified and corrected

+ Perform tasks related to waste handling, storage, and disposal requirements according to local, state, and federal agencies

+ Coordinate waste shipments with waste disposal contractors

+ Conduct safety training/orientations

+ Perform standard wet chemical techniques in glassware: make stock and calibration solutions, use an analytical balance, run batch reactions,

+ extractions, distillations, and titrate solutions

+ Follow standard operating procedures for chemical syntheses and manipulations of toxic, flammable, or energetic substances

+ Maintain detailed lab notebook on all work

+ Follow standard operating procedures for routine chemical analysis and maintenance including:

+ HPLC,

+ GC,

+ pH titrations,

+ Karl Fischer analysis

+ DSC

+ Perform process equipment assembly, cleaning, and maintenance

+ Diligently maintain laboratory and production area cleanliness and organization

+ Understand and strictly follow safety programs related to hazardous chemicals

+ Clearly document work, report on task progress and communicate results

+ Manage time and organization efficiently

+ Comfortable working in a fast paced environment with short deadlines, and multiple responsibilities

Requirements

+ BS or MS degree in chemistry or similar experience + 3-8 years relevant work experience

+ Ability to convey important safety initiatives

+ Strong technical and problem-solving skills

+ Experience in implementing regulatory requirements

+ Strong attention to detail

+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills

+ Proficient in Microsoft Office

+ Must be able to lift 30 pounds

Details:

+ Full time, salaried position, $33-43/hour, depending on qualifications

+ Broomfield, CO, 1st shift, flexible work hours
