Job Title: Major Gift Officer

Location: Talladega College, Talladega, AL

Reports To: Vice President for Institutional Advancement

Position Overview: Talladega College seeks a passionate and results-oriented Major Gift Officer to join our Institutional Advancement team. The Major Gift Officer will play a pivotal role in cultivating and securing significant financial contributions from alumni, friends, and philanthropic organizations to support the mission and goals of Talladega College.
This individual will be responsible for building and managing a portfolio of major gift prospects, developing strong relationships, and implementing strategic fundraising initiatives that align with the college's objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Prospect Identification and Management: - Develop and manage a portfolio of 100-150 major gift prospects, including alumni, parents, and other potential donors. - Conduct thorough research to identify and qualify prospective donors capable of making major gifts. - Utilize data analytics and donor management software to track interactions, progress, and outcomes.
2. Relationship Building: - Cultivate and maintain relationships with prospects and donors through personalized communication, meetings, and engagement strategies. - Develop and implement individualized solicitation strategies for each major gift prospect in your portfolio. - Coordinate and execute donor engagement events, visits, and stewardship activities.
3. Fundraising Strategy: - Collaborate with the Vice President for Institutional Advancement and other team members to create and implement effective fundraising strategies. - Participate in the development of campaign plans and goals, particularly for the Talented Tenth Initiative and other major fundraising campaigns. - Monitor progress toward fundraising goals and adjust strategies as needed to ensure targets are met.
4. Proposal Development: - Prepare compelling proposals and presentations to secure major gifts, aligning donor interests with college priorities. - Collaborate with faculty and administration to identify funding needs and develop proposals for targeted projects and programs.
5. Stewardship and Reporting: - Ensure timely acknowledgment and recognition of all major gifts and provide regular updates to donors on the impact of their contributions. - Prepare reports and analyses regarding donor activity, fundraising progress, and outcomes for internal and external stakeholders.
6. Collaboration: - Work closely with the alumni relations team to engage alumni in giving opportunities and strengthen their connection to the college. - Collaborate with other departments to align fundraising efforts with institutional priorities and initiatives.

Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred. - Minimum of 5 years of experience in fundraising, development, or related field, with a proven track record of securing major gifts. - Strong understanding of fundraising principles, donor relations, and best practices. - Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. - Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with diverse stakeholders. - High level of professionalism, integrity, and enthusiasm for the mission of Talladega College. - Proficiency in donor management software and Microsoft Office Suite. - Willingness to travel for donor visits and engagement activities as needed.

Working Conditions: This position may require evening and weekend work for events and meetings. The Major Gift Officer will work in an office environment, with the potential for remote work arrangements as determined by the Vice President for Institutional Advancement.
