The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is an important member of the team. The LPN delivers a specific skill set and practices to their full scope of practice outlined by the state board of nursing. The LPN is responsible for utilizing the nursing process to provide comprehensive, high quality care to patients. Under the direction of the Registered Nurse (RN), nursing care is provided in accordance with the stated philosophy and standards established by the Nursing Service Department, regulatory agencies and professional organizations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education
    • Graduate of a practical nursing school required.
  • Experience
    • A minimum of 1 to 2 years medical surgical experience required.
  • Licensure and/or Certification
    • Currently licensed to as a practical nurse in Massachusetts required.
    • BLS healthcare provider required.
  • Skills
    • Basic nursing skills.
    • Communication skills.
    • Assessment skills.
    • Critical thinking skills.
