We are looking for an experienced MEP Associate(MEPA) who will be responsible for providing preconstruction and operational expertise in the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, low voltage, and controls systems trades on Choate construction projects. This role will support our Preconstruction, Project Management and Field Management professionals. The role will report directly to our existing MEP Specialist. While reporting to the MEP Specialist, the MEPA performs their duties and responsibilities to achieve the results of safe, productive, quality, and professional execution of MEP work where appropriate. The MEPA's efforts positively impact the company's goals of securing new projects and executing those projects by providing our clients and our project teams the MEPA's expertise throughout the sales pursuit, preconstruction, and project delivery spaces. The MEPA will collaborate in a positive supportive manner with Choate's MEP Specialist, Directors of Preconstruction and Directors of Operations to ensure timely preconstruction services and operational execution of quality projects, striving constantly for our clients and design teams' satisfaction with Choate Construction.

In addition to the technical duties and administration noted above, the MEP Associate shall support the MEP Specialist in developing the MEP design and construction knowledge of Choate personnel, thereby expanding Choate's overall professional assets. The MEPA shall support this professional development through periodic direct training, mentoring and real-time hands on support. .

Skills and Qualifications:

+ Preferred four (4) year degree in mechanical, and/or electrical engineering, technical MEP training, and experience with MEP construction.

+ Five to seven (5-7) plus years experience with MEP trades with a proven track record.

+ Understanding building codes, mechanical codes, electrical codes, fire protection codes and plumbing codes as it relates to construction projects.

+ Experience in leading project coordination, design assistance and commissioning of complex electrical and mechanical systems.

+ Leads through change and adversity. Collaborates to help make a tough call when needed; builds consensus when appropriate; motivates and encourages others.

+ Sets productive goals for MEP trades; keeps team accountable for actions; provides resources and support; uses checkpoint and data to track progress.

+ Proficient in use and functions of computers and software suites utilized by Choate Construction.

+ Transportation to and from projects, including traveling to out of town projects. 75% office environment. 25% field jobsite environment.

+ Preferred achievement and ongoing credential maintenance of LEED AP.

+ MEP Engineering education with PE certification preferred.

+ For projects assigned, the MEPA prepares detailed MEP scopes, analyses, bid evaluations, and bid tabulations which result in complete, realistic, and unambiguous estimates/budgets at the conceptual, schematic, design development and construction design stages.
