Duties Serves as the senior technical contact for the daily operation of the CMS security operations center (SOC). Leads, collaborates, and contributes towards advancing both traditional and emerging technology solutions that permits security, business, integration/modernization of existing technology solutions. Develops and maintains capabilities for security automation, process improvement, visibility and transparency, including integration of cloud services and capabilities. Oversee, streamline and improve efficient and effective operation of the CMS Security Operations, incident monitoring, handling, and reporting. Improves program effectiveness through use of KPI's or other performance measures. Designs and implements continuous monitoring/detection capabilities including scanning hosts, scanning networks, network components, workstations and other devices. In order to qualify for the GS-14 , you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include: 1) Leading cybersecurity risk incident response or monitoring capabilities for environments that include cloud hosting platforms (e.g., Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Microsoft Azure), or applications, or web services, or network traffic to support business goals; 2) Evaluating emerging cybersecurity threats to determine or mitigate risks; and 3) Coordinating a pilot (test) program or implementing a new project/program from inception to completion. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).
