The Cafe Cook/Manager will create and maintain an atmosphere in our cafe that encourages customers to come back as well as, refer the cafe to others. This is an important aspect of the Million Air Alexandria operation and it demands professional leadership. Essentially a short order menu, daily specials are required. Manager must be able to prepare multiple and varying orders simultaneously with the help of an assistant cook.

Responsibilities and Duties

1. Greet customers in a friendly, professional manner

2. Complete knowledge of menu items and daily specials

3. Process food sales using the cash register and POS machine

4. Cafe opening and closing duties of food preparation and cleaning

5. Maintain a clean dining area and drink bar throughout the day

6. Cook and prepare menu and daily special items

7. Abide by all standards established by the National Restaurant Association with Serve-Safe certification

8. Provides timely feedback to the company regarding service failures or customer concerns

9. Maintain inventory and order replacement items as needed

10. Maintain the established accountability system

11. Provides timely feedback to the GM regarding service failures or customer concerns

3. Possess mathematical skills required to manage COGs and sales

4. Possess skills to master required Excel spreadsheets

5. Possess advanced food preparation skills that enable multiple orders to be processed simultaneously

6. Possess and apply Serve-Safe food preparation and safety rules

7. Punctual and dependable

8. Train and supervise one assistant cook

Reporting Relationship

This position reports to the General Manager

This position operates in a professional environment.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job, to include but not limited to:

1. Must be able to lift 50 pounds

2. Stand for long periods of time required to prepare meals

This is a non-exempt position.

Education, Experience, and Eligibility Qualifications

1. High School Diploma or equivalent

2. Cooking/customer service experience required

3. Food Service managerial experience preferred

4. Ability to pass a criminal background check

5. Zero tolerance drug free employer includes pre-employment and random screening
