Position Summary

The Senior Accountant is responsible for all areas relating to accounting. This position will be responsible for maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, general ledger account analyses and reconciliations, internal and external financial reporting, year-end audit preparation and the support of budget and forecast activities. The Senior Accountant will have significant interaction with senior-level and middle-level management.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Approve/Record journal entries
  • Compile all reporting related for the month-end reporting package
  • Assists in Consolidation or other external reporting tasks
  • Identify Financial Risks & Opportunities
  • Assist in the Budget/Forecasting Process
  • Perform variance analysis and understand key drivers for results, including in the budget forecasting processes
  • Review departmental spending variances with department managers monthly
  • Identify accounting process improvements to save money, reduce paperwork and/or improve the accuracy of the financial reporting
  • Ensure the completion of monthly account reconciliations
  • Administration of the capital spending processes
  • Maintain the Company's Fixed Asset System (FAS) for all asset addition and disposals
  • Evaluation of results/trends to identify opportunities for improvements to PBT & CGU
  • Maintain process documentation
  • Compile data for reporting requests (Berwind tax, FPA, SPMC, etc.) as needed
  • Provide financial analysis/reporting to management as requested
  • Assist in compiling documentation and support for year-end audit requests
  • Ensure sales tax filings are submitted in a timely fashion
  • Other duties as assigned


Basic Qualifications

Education:

•Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business or closely related field

Experience:

•Five or more years of experience in corporate accounting operations or 3 or more years in experience in public accounting

Other Preferred Skillset:

•Strong accounting process experience and understanding of overall business processes

•Proactive, energetic, flexible and team oriented are attributes of an individual that will be successful in this position

•Advanced knowledge of accounting standards

•Strong written and verbal communications skills

•Advanced Excel skills and advanced experience in ERP systems

•Periods of evening and weekend work may be required, especially at month-end close and year-end audit time frames

Preferred Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:

•Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in either active or inactive status required

•Previous public accounting experience (Big 4) preferred

•Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business or closely related field

•Experience with month-end financial reporting

•Knowledge of current GAAP accounting principles and ability to apply to Oliver's activities and awareness of emerging changes in GAAP and implications to Oliver

•Experiences with SAP Fiori a plus

•Experience with Hyperion a plus

Interpersonal Skills:

•Ability to read, analyze and interpret data

•Ability to write in a clear and concise manner

•Ability to speak effectively, present information, and respond to questions in a clear and concise manner

Technical Skills

•Experience with Hyperion a plus

Other Skills

•Ability to effectively plan and organize

•Ability to work under pressure and maximize efficiency

Working Conditions

This position operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers and phones. Visits to the manufacturing floor may be included.
