Description: Job Summary: Leads the engineering and plant operations department of the Baroness Campus and surrounding properties.

Directs the overall daily activities of the department to ensure the highest standards of customer services and support of patient care.

Develops and administers programs and schedules to ensure that both preventive and corrective maintenance of the central energy plant, the cogeneration power plant, and campus infrastructure and mechanical systems are done in a cost effective, efficient and timely manner in compliance with standards and regulations.

Selects, trains, orients, and assigns departmental staff members in a manner that ensures efficient departmental operations and complies with relevant regulations governing the employment process.

Assist the director in the development of a multi-year capital plan and develops annual capital budgets for the plant operations department on the Baroness Campus.

Assist the director in the development of an annual operating budget for the engineering and plant operations department.

Selects, negotiates with, and manages third-party contractors / vendors engaged in operating and maintaining properties.

Establishes and maintains a safety-first culture by promoting and driving safe work practices timely training, and best practices.

Promotes a harmonious work environment that is conducive to employee retention and high morale.

Works closely with colleagues in construction services to ensure projects are completed in a timely and cost-effective manner that negates the impact to patient care and business operations.

Optimizes total-cost-of-ownership over the life of the Erlanger assets.

Develops training programs for supervisors, team leaders and non-exempt staff to ensure competencies are maximized.

Exercises excellent written and verbal communication skills in working with clinical leaders to ensure building operations and systems operate in the best support of patient care and patient safety.

Ensures department operations are conducted with the highest standards of customer service.

Manages payroll, schedules, performance reviews and ensures 24/7 staffing of critical department functions.

Oversees the management of critical infrastructure shutdowns with minimal interruption to hospital operations.

Education: Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.

Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in engineering, business, or technical training/education with diploma in appropriate fields plus 10 years� experience.

Experience:

Required: 5 years of leadership experience in facilities management within a hospital or complex institution with similar infrastructure and mechanical systems.

Position Requirement(s): License/Certification/Registration

Preferred: Status as a Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM) with the American Hospital Association.

Department Position Summary: Responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of the Facilities Management Department.

Provides leadership in the maintenance of plant equipment, mechanical and electrical systems, buildings, grounds, and utilities in a safe, dependable and efficient manner. Oversees staff development and a customer service-oriented department.
