Performs duties involving patient care and operation of highly sophisticated radiographic and computer equipment in the interventional cardiac catheterization laboratory while under direct supervision of an RT/RCIS Technologist preceptor. Responsible for assisting cardiologist/ vascular surgeons/electrophysiologist during diagnostic and interventional procedures. Provides for the comfort and well-being of the patient while in the HHI Cardiac Cath Lab. Becomes proficient in the operation of all cardiovascular peripheral vascular equipment and in the performance of any related duties or procedures. Will perform in all areas of HHI including the insertion and maintenance of IABP, Fluoroscopy, Pacemakers, Imaging, Documentation, and Hemodynamic Monitoring. Responsible for carrying out the mission, vision, and quality commitment of Houston Healthcare.

High school graduate or GED equivalent. Enrolled in an approved Cardiovascular Tech or Radiology Tech program.

Current AHA/ARC BLS required. Current ACLS certification required or obtained within nine (9) months of graduation from approved program. ARRT or RCIS certification required within nine (9) months of graduation from approved program. Successful completion of an HHC Base Rhythm Interpretation Course or CLEP Exam within nine (9) months of graduating.

Ability to learn and obtain knowledge of cardiac and peripheral interventions such as but not limited to; Percutaneous cardiac procedures, IVUS, Infusion Wires, IABP insertion, ACT, Pericardiocentesis, mechanical and manual thrombectomy devices, hemodynamic monitoring, EKG interpretation and the ability to apply critical care thinking and application in an emergency situation. Knowledge and experience in managing invasive lines and sterile techniques.

Successful candidates will be subject to criminal background and drug screens.
